Bruce Pearl plan for Woolridge

Wow...

The board keeps falling off.

At least I know that BPV just argues cause he likes to argue.

Some of the other people do not understand that.

Unimane you are a poster who I really enjoy reading. The same people who are decrying the transitive property will use it to tell you Pearl sucks if we lose to a team that is "bad" because of "bad" losses.

The bottom line is that you have to recognize that there are 5 guys who will follow you around and take shots at you in every thread. At this point they are doing it in part just because they love the reaction. When you post something and no one replies, or your internet buddy says "LOL" or "This" it is not that satisfying. They are looking for reaction, conflict and conversation.

The saddest of all is the drive by commentary of a guy who is paid to argue but who also runs away from real debate by ignoring someone particularly if they point out how wrong one of his flat earth statements is.

Anyway, on Woolridge, yes the guy has not performed up to expectations so far. Body wise he reminds me of I. Victor somewhat. You can bet that all offseason they will work with him to strengthen his body and get bigger. What you are talking about in getting used to your body is something that still seems to haunt JP Prince. John Wall is completely in control of his body when he is running at full speed. Many other people when they get up to top speed have less than full body control. Tyler Smith and Hopson both seem to have good body control when they are going fast.

Bruce knows what he is doing. A few guys on here will be glad to be wrong about Bruce. I will be here to laugh and laugh and laugh at the few who hate Bruce and are dead wrong about his ability. I am also happy that JP Prince has finally started playing like someone who is worthy of defending, even if it took a while.

Man, you're just wasting your time with these guys. I spent several hours arguing with these guys about Pearl's success. In the end, I realized it wasn't worth it. They don't like Pearl... period. end of it. Just come back at season's end, like i'm gonna do. Maybe they'll eat crow, maybe they won't. But you'll never change their mind about the UT program until Pearl is no longer coaching.
Truly sad, but true.
Go Vols!!!

If Pearl could show he is capable of making a change or an adjustment, he would gather a little bit of respect from myself.

But Woolridge is nowhere near the athlete I. Victor was.

I enjoy the spirited debate for absolute certain, but don't assume that I'm not dead serious in the way I view what our coach does.

I hope I am dead wrong about the guy, but to dismiss my arguments as lacking clear thought or because I don't understand coaching / playing basketball is ludicrous.

I have yet to see anything that tells me that what our coach is doing will somehow win us big games. Our players are respectable. Certainly better than our play would indicate, but they have no accountability mechanism by which we can essentially force improvement.

Player development doesn't exist. Halfcourt game on neither end exists. I'd like to see that improve. It's not hard, but it won't change because we hope it will or because you believe our coach has a plan. We're too many years into this with too many different players to assume that it's just hardheaded talent. To some degree, we are attracting players who want to run up and down willy nilly and that has brought in some talent, but it has, by and large, been in the Vincent Yarbrough mode.

I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of my opinion, but to presume that it's some personal vendetta against our coach is ostrich land. I have legit reasons for my viewpoint and I back them up. Crap from Unimane about meaningless statistical nonsense and mental gymnastics in deriving new measures for a collegiate basketball coach is where you should have issues. Get over the vendetta stuff as it's off base. Get over the idea that I've somehow allied myself with a small group on this board with a vendetta. That crap doesn't exist. There is clearly a group of people here who don't like the coaching and badly want it to improve. That's the extent of it.

Look back at old stuff here. I supported the heck out of Pearl and his best team. Even knowing better, I gave him every benefit of the doubt that we could win. Hope beyond hope simply doesn't bring home trophies or chop nets. Getting players to do what needs to be done, especially from a defense and rebounding perspective, wins big ones. I don't care if a guy is a disciplinarian style coach. Regardless of approach, a coach has to get players' attention enough for them to understand that there is one sheriff. Knight and K are my two favorite coaches, for personal reasons, and they approach the game and players radically differently, yet both have been wildly successful in getting players to do what needs to be done. There is no single approach that is the answer. There are, however, a set of things that absolutely have to be accomplished to win the big games. We have no mechanism for making our players do those.

Why are you so negative? Once Woolridge's voice changes, he'll be the next Kevin Durant. Be patient.

When he's fully grown and all bulked up, he may actually become Shaq and be completely dominant at post.

Any of you who think Woolridge is a post player needs to go back to the football board. you know nothing about basketball. it's pathetic that the depth of your analysis consists merely of looking at his height
