Just like Memphis, that was turned down by any quality coach. And ended up with an inexperienced young coach.

The Memphis situation was different. Cal left them in a similar fashion to the way Kiffin left UT. There is no reason a well planned coaching search can't draw a suitable replacement who can take us to another level. Bruce is tainted right now. His situation will hurt us more in recruiting the longer he is around. I wish it weren't the case, but the longer he is around the worse things will likely get for both parties. And it appears to be affecting his coaching right now to make matters worse.

The big IF. If the AA penalties are not too harsh, we are good shape with recruits. Parker, Stokes and others are interested in Tennessee for 2012.

unfortunately to all those who say we can get a great coach, i would disagree. Not many great coaches will accept the challenge of coaching at a football school, being the second biggest basketball coach at the school (Pat will always be #1), at a school with no tradition in winning, and a team that could b facing NCAA sanctions. Money isnt everything when it comes to getting a coach, hopefully we can keep Pearl and he can get us on the right track.

I disagree completely. UT has great basketball attendance, Pat is in no way the #1 basketball coach when the men's team is winning and Pearl is best described as a tumor that hasn't spread yet. Cut him out an we might be ok to go on from here. But I don't want to post more about this. I actually like Pearl and I would like to see him do well for UT in the future, but that is very unlikely now in my opinion.
