Agreed, this is the test. Tressel is absolutely guilty of failing to report violations, knowingly playing players who were probably ineligible, and lying to his employer, and it's hard to see how he wouldn't have had to directly mislead the NCAA about this when they investigated this situation back in December. The NCAA already got egg on its face over this by letting the players play in the bowl game; they can't be happy to find out that Tressel was hiding this stuff the whole season. If they're serious, this is when they prove it. Bruce Pearl and UT basketball are small potatoes compared to Ohio State football.

I refuse to place the welfare of one coach ahead of the health of our basketball program. If firing him helps us avoid further penalization then he should be kicked out on his behind. I don't have much loyalty to him simply because he showed he wasn't thinking about UT basketball when he committed these violations and set up a miniature conspiracy to try and keep his actions hidden.

Right now, given all of his baggage, Bruce reminds me of an early stage of cancer. Cut him out now and we may be able to recover without too many negative effects. If we keep him, we might very well be giving our own basketball program the death penalty. We are playing with fire here. I hope it works out.
