Buchner to Bama

So Bama's QB room now looks like:

Jalen Milroe (#12 QB in '21)
Tyler Buchner (#14 AB in '21)
Ty Simpson (#2 QB in '22)
Eli Holstein (#7 QB in '23)
Dylan Lonergan (#12 QB in '23)

I'm sure 3-4 of those guys will be happy as career backups, never seeing the field. No drama ahead for the Bama QB room at all.

The question now is do Milroe and Simpson hit the portal. You have the OC from ND bringing his QB with him who has 3 years of eligibility. How do you feel if you are Milroe or Simpson.

I think Tennessee native Justin Timberlake can sum up their feelings and soon to be actions

I look for Simpson to transfer to Vandy, SC, Memphis, or to go play for his dad.

Maybe heupel can thread the needle and get him here as a solid back-up option. The Covid class of QBs are a bust.

I still feel Bama can develop an offensive manager and be ok. Those are still some talented QBs and Im guessing one will emerge and be just fine. Just hope our QB room can stay healthy.

The ideal is for both of them to hit the road. I'd love it if Bama was stuck with a Notre Dame dud as their ride or die.

Alabama has won with mediocre QBs before -- Sims, Coker, McElroy and McCarren - QB position is just being magnified there because Young was so good
Well when they won with McCarren and Coker and McElroy they had a strong run game that they leaned on then and their defense was much better than it has been in recent years. Also the talent gap has decreased significantly between everyone else and them from 10 to 12 years ago thanks to NIL. Bama will be good no doubt they got alot of talent on that roster but the days of them just rolling out there and running down everyone’s throat to win 45-3 are over now.

Bingo.

We've shown that we can whip up on their defense. Can Buchner, Milroe, or Simpson keep up with our offense?

Buchner is probably the best kind of game manager that they can get to run Tommy Rees' offense. Notre Dame always seemed to have a conservative offense, but that may have ben more of a function of having good TE, OL, and RBs, without having dynamic receivers. Buchner probably makes Bama a little tougher to play against versus Simpson or Milroe, but he's not a Bryce Young type talent.
