Buchner to Bama

If I was TY, I would be pissed!
If I were ND I would be a little upset. Kind of reminds me of the Pitt receiver who transferred to USC. I am not familiar with the rules about contacting a player who had not declared for the portal. I know his OC went to Bama, and I know rules don't apply to Saban and the Tide, but pretty sure some dialogue was in play while he was in spring practice. It all seemed a little too coincidental the way it played out. Especially with the highly recruited QB room that didn't exactly light it up in Bama's spring game.

I don’t think anyone is predicting a losing season this year. But Bama fans love talking about how “we were one play away twice from undefeated” without saying the other hard truth which is they were also only one play away twice more from losing two more games

The question is, is Alabama more vulnerable this year? Losing Young hurts for sure, he was an excellent game manager for his team. There are just too many unknowns for me to be comfortable saying Alabama will be better than last year.

Without a doubt though they have the game against us circled and will be ready to give their all against us. But so will we.
As of right now, I’d predict they regress. 2 new coordinators with a new offensive philosophy, and no BY, Gibbs, or Anderson.

TTSIO will still be tough tho. I bet they throw the kitchen sink at us, but it also wouldn’t shock me if we go down there and thump em.

Yeah I see more that makes me think it’s going to be worse this season than better.

But hey, it’s the off season, anything can happen come September

Big get for Alabama. They were in need of a quarterback and they have one that knows the OCs system. Another note, with the transfer portal, these transfers in the off season are reminding me of blockbuster free agency deals or trades that you would hear in pro sports. Not so much a criticism, but an observation. Part of the new landscape of college sports.

In a weird way Bama woke up yesterday with the Number 1 pick in the NFL draft and then went to bed w/ the college version of Mr. Irrelevant.

As an ND fan, you’re welcome. We’re trying to bring them down from the inside. Can’t imagine Buchner being successful there. Rees I an average OC as well. Hope you kill them this year.
The ass whipping is coming. I just hope Tennessee doesn’t step off the gas.

If you watch P Finbaum show yesterday those regular call in idiots he gets from Bama think they found the savior. He played one decent game and could not beat out the top 2 ahead of him. To be honest the bowl game against USCE he literally gave the 2 or 3 tds himself.

Bamas QB situation does not look good from the outside perspective. Some will still predict them to go 12-0 however

I was gonna say 0-12 but then I remembered it was the Riesling talking.

Go VOLS

Maybe not so much a big get as it was a perfect fit with the OC they have and knows the system. I was writing that on very little sleep from the previous day... I guess that's my excuse. If anything, it shows Alabama's desperation and the fact that they're settling which is unusual. It will be interesting moving forward to see what they'll do this season. Glad I'm not a Alabama fan

Alabama has won with mediocre QBs before -- Sims, Coker, McElroy and McCarren - QB position is just being magnified there because Young was so good

True. They always have a strong running game. I was surprised they left didn’t continue to pound the rock against us, esp outside the tackles as they had success most of the night.

Those guys were also throwing to guys like Julio and Amari Cooper and other NFL guys. The talent from 2021 to now has dropped significantly in WR group. I said last that Burton isn’t that guy. He wasn’t at UGA. He still isn’t at Bama.

Saban has also adapted and changed his offense a lot because he wouldn't be competing for, much less winning, titles with his late 2000s and early 2010s offenses. With Jalen Hurts, Tua, and Bryce Young, he had very QB-centric offenses, with Tua and BY being the most dynamic of the two.

What is interesting though is that he didn't win a title with BY, and he didn't win a title with Tua as the primary starter. His most recent title was with Mac Jones, who was kind of a throwback to the McElroy/McCarron era.
