Buckhead wants out of Atlanta

So the upscale Buckhead portion of Atlanta has finally had enough, and wants to form its' own City of Buckhead. Considering that Buckhead falls within the municipal limits of the City of Atlanta, and would be taking roughly 40% of Atlanta's revenues with it, this will be an interesting story to watch.

Why, you ask, do the residents of toney Buckhead want out? Go figure...crime.

Where's the popcorn stand in this place?

Atlanta's oppressive government and bad leadership is killing them.....literally.

Add the counties in Oregon that want to succede from the state and I could see another area doing the same.

No one wants liberal policies and the crime, poverty, and trash that go along with them

Unfortunately they probably need to build a wall too. Buckhead is a small enough area that the thugs will still try and commit their crimes there and make a run for the city limits of Atlanta where they cannot be pursued any further

State police I am guessing can still serve arrest warrants from other cities? Pretty sure that’s the case in Texas and I’m guessing the GA legislature would be willing to help out

Mayor Lightfoot of Atlanta has forbidden all car chases within Atlanta. So once they cross back into Atlanta, they are safe

Hope it happens. It will quickly spotlight Atlanta’s already horrible incompetence when Buckhead comes out of the gate swinging and getting things back in order.

Buckhead has the $$$ to attract and hire quality applicants for law enforcement. Quickly get 24/7 teams of bad ass stormtroopers patrolling that place and getting it cleaned up.

Buckhead is pretty darn liberal. Its just rich liberal. The big gov liberal. The NIMBY liberal. The ones making the money off all the work/causes/beliefs of others.

They arent going to be any less liberal except for the police.

Heck a decade after they create their own city there will be articles praising as a utopia, of what liberalism "really is". Meanwhile it's made up of the states top 10% income earners, no affordable housing, and pretty much all of the proloteriats who work there will have to be shipped in.

Oh you will get the PR affordable housing feel good stories that just somehow never happen. Plenty of inclusivity for the LBTQs, and diversity, as long as they are rich. Best public schools in the whole south east with the student parking lot of beamers, and land rovers.

Side point if you ever need to get hit by a car as a pedestrian for the insurance money do it in buckhead. You could settle all your medical bills for just the car alone.

Louder is 100% correct on this. I went to high school in Buckhead. True then and true now. Just listen to them bend over backwards to show their population diversity metrics. They are going to have a extremely well payed police force. Cant blame them. At one time the Buckhead zip code was the wealthiest zip code in the country. Quite simply, this wouldn't have happened if crime had not have sky rocketed. And when all the ATL police quit this is what happens.

It was a bad situation that was made worse by the mayor inserting herself and her politics.

She could have avoided the issues, but she had to make a point in front of the cameras. Get ready for her to be the next stacey Abrams. "Wronged" by the system, leader of the broken social justice system, never going away.
