Budweiser Pulls Controversial Beer Message

Well if there was a craft beer head and shoulders above what the masses enjoyed they'd be selling it in mass quantities.

Not really. There's a lot of craft beer that's sought after because it's good and hard to find. The ability to make beer in massive quantities is really expensive. Unless New Belgium is craft still or not, Idk.

Bud Light is like the Nickelback of beer. Bland, unappealing, universally hated, gives you a headache, and yet somehow makes beau coup money. I wouldn't be caught drinking one, sounds terribly emasculating.

If something is sold in mass quantities it's usually because they've found a cheap efficient way to make and market it. Corona is the number #1 Mexican beer in the US yet it routinely comes in last in taste test competitions and most people in that country think it's garbage. Why is it so popular? Marketing. Notice Corona ads never mention the taste of the beer or how it's brewed just some magical place you'll be transported to when you drink it. The masses drink that idea up.Bud Light is no different. Most people drink to get a buzz or drunk. Bud Light is will do that cheaper and quicker than most craft beers hence it's gonna be more popular.

Maybe you're doing something else wrong

If it was a craft beer before why wouldn't it be because they started making in mass quantities? Is that part of the criteria for craft drinkers to stamp their stigma of approval? "Can't be mass produced". Most people don't prefer an overbearing, malty, hoppy, beer especially if you're gonna drink more than one.

I can assure you that anything that Terrapin makes is head and shoulders above anything that Anheuser Busch puts out.

Oh my... give an Imperial IPA to you average Bud Light drinker and see the frustration on their faces.

No doubt, I like hops so many of the beers I brew are well hopped but even the ones I consider lightly hopped are too much for most of the bud light crowd. My brother in law for example, all he drinks is bud light. I brew a blonde ale I keep on tap at the house. Its the lightest beer I brew on a regular basis in hops, malt, and abv and he cant even handle it.

Spot on. A good advertising campaign will convince people that cat crap is a good dinner.

That's based on your taste buds or whatever criteria you use to choose a beer. Sales would also probably refute that but you can always find some kind of reason to justify why you like what you like. I however doubt a company that offered a great product with a chance to make more money would choose not to simply to maintain a label and limited customer base.

Not sure you understand how mass marketing and production works. Quality takes a back seat. I guarantee that sales figures for Applebee's steaks are higher than those for Ruth Chris, with your logic you are telling me that Applebee's steaks are better than those at Ruth Chris.

Yeah, the quality of ingredients between the big beer companies and the craft brewer is night and day different. Dogfish Head founder, Sam Calagione wrote a book called Brewing Up a Business. In his book he discusses how he travels the world looking for the finest ingredients. Its really pretty interesting if you're into craft beer.

I think it's up to the individual. Some would weigh the taste versus cost and say it's really not that much better. Some may just like Applebee's better. It's hard to speak for everyone but the numbers don't totally lie. If I'm in a group of 11 guys, 10 eat livermush, and I don't they will have every argument and reason in the world as to how great it is and wonder what's wrong with me.....I'm not buying It and still not eating it.

I've been there, there was a time in my early twenties that all I drank was Bud. There is a reason that every year craft beer takes a little more of the market share away from the big boys.
