I get what you're saying. Have you looked around you at sporting events lately. People spend so much time on their phones they miss plays constantly. At least the 3rd down might get some of them to look up and get involved.

Hey, I actually feel you about some of the things they do now being detrimental to the atmosphere, but the third down thing ... eh, I think it's kind of okay. It seems to get the crowd amped up for big third down noise situations, that much is certain.

Seriously, I would expect more from a fan that has been on this board about 7 years! The announcer is just trying to get the crowd into the game for third down. Some of the drunks may lose count of the down at times, especially for late night games when they have been drinking all day. I find it as a way to stir up the crowd more! You are definitely one of the negas that people point toward a lot on this board!
