Butch Davis fired today

It was a poster on PackPride that got his hands on McAdoo's paper and discovered that it was plagiarized. It was then picked up by SportsbyBrooks and The Raleigh News & Observer.

If that's what was the final straw for Butch Davis. The poster WufWuf1 on PackPride essentially got Davis fired. That's crazy.

You guys are wrong about the reason Hammy bailed on playing UNC. He wasn't afraid we'd lose--he just didn't want to play a school that cheats!

Serves you right for that Music City Bowl BS!!!! On the real side, I guess we need to realize that as a rule, you can't turn around bottom dwellers without cheating. Bama and OSU were once down but they had tradition and resources to be good with the right coach. But as we are seeing with Oregon, it's not possible in todays times to turn a program on par with KY or Vandy into anything mor than a consistant 6-6 7-5 team. No what they can be 10-2 every year without cheating.

And we thought Tennessee had it bad... at least it's still Tennessee. With more money and better facilities. UNC is going to have a fun time trying to find an AD and HC. They better hope they don't get hit too severely because they're going to end up as bad as Duke or Vanderbilt.

I'd still take Butch Davis as head coach at UTK but I would not hire him until after the Vols' penalties are announced by the NCAA. The guy can flat out coach and perhaps Butch would not have to lie in bed with cheaters to get the kind of prospects he needs at UTK? Not calling for Dooley's ouster here. Just saying that this episode does not suddenly make Butch Davis a bad coach.

It doesn't lend credence to him being a good coach either. He's a known and shown cheater. All bets are off as to how well he could succeed on the straight and narrow.

No straight and narrow coach could ever win at UTK. If you don't have carte blanche to indescriminately commit secondary violations then you're fighting with one hand tied behind your back in this league.
