Butch Davis fired today

Not sure if anyone would want this gig until after NCAA rules. My guess is interim coach route now and try to get good hire this year.

Kirby Smart or Malzahn would probably avoid this in hopes of a bigger gig (Georgia) next year. Why would you leave Indiana to come to school about to be punished by the NCAA and try to recruit against SEC teams and better ACC teams.

Guessing they would need to throw a truck load of money at Baggett if they wanted someone this year, but right now, best bet is to go interim route would be way late to bring someone new in....

I think you're right. They had like 9 major violations IIRC. They'll probably name the asst. head coach guy, though I think Withers would be the best candidate. They might get a post season ban, but the interim coach could get them through, IF, they give them the penalties before the season starts.

Makes Hammy's dumping of UNC from the schedule even worse now. Well at least we got Buffalo at home....sigh....

Who worth a damn would want to leave their current job for NC? I just don't see it. If I'm a BOT , I think I'd rather take the sanctions on the chin and stick with Davis. He has taken NC from a doormat to a contender and I just don't see people rushing in for that job.

No hate here, but I can see some of the vitriol. The state of the program when he was removed... His snarky, public comments about coaches and the University... The buy-out...

He could have handled the latter part of his tenure, and his post-tenure actions a bit better for a man that "loves UT" like he does.
