"Butch gets it"

While this phrase can get annoying, IMO by far and away the most annoying thing is when a kid is considering Tennessee in the recruiting process and people call him a VFL. Like Dalton Santos was being called a VFL. That phrase should be saved until they are at least enrolled and on campus.

I really hope that CBJ gets that Volnation gets that he gets it. But we are awaiting better results than last year before we proclaim loudly that he gets it. Get it?

IMO "pard" has to be in the most annoying phrase hall of fame.

It's obvious Butch gets it in so many areas: recruiting, academics, PR, community service, discipline, etc. I am astounded, along with most of the nation, at how well he gets it!

What is not obvious YET is if he gets the Xs and Os part of the game. You can have everything else clicking on all cylinders, but if you don't pull the right strings in game-preparation and on game-day (tailored strategies for individual opponents, schemes that actually work, balanced and gutsy play-calling, game-management, and timely adjustments when someone else has your number) you are not going to succeed consistently. I'm not saying he doesn't get that as well (and I suspect he does), it's just that he hasn't proved it yet.

YET, what he has proved to anyone that has followed his career is that he does understand the Xs andOs by winning championships in every stop on his path. Name the coach; ever; who wins championships with far, far less than championship players? What exactly do you think he had on his roster last year? He now got a few players that he recruited, and then give him a year or two more to fatten their numbers and only then start questioning his coaching abilities.
