Butch Jones embraces team chaplain Tim Miller

I also am not into the whole church scene, but was this post really necessary? You're right to your opinion, but why did you feel the need to post it? To create drama? this was a pretty immature post in a thread discussing the team chaplain.

Still yet to see any discussion of Tim.

Football banter aside, I salute Jones for taking this strong stand.

“Odin is highest and most ancient of the Aesir.* He rules all things, and mighty though the other gods are, yet they all submit to him like children to their father.”

So what are you doing Doyle? Come on out from behind the quotations and tell us what you really think?

Whatever your beliefs are, I would think this type of activity would be approved by all. Some of these kids may have never had the opportunity to be involved in anything like this. You don't believe in God, fine, but hopefully you had the opportunity to learn and make your own decision. Jmo tho.

Surely a thread about something positive and spiritual will not turn into and argument about belief vs non-belief.. You'd think non-believers could muster a bit if respect and intelligence and either STFU or move on...

said it plenty of times, if there is a god, I doubt he cares about who wins football games.

"If there is a God"... the Creator and Divine Owner of all things... why wouldn't He care about everything... including football games?

Interesting, are you saying that God must conform to your image?

You can never go wrong putting God first. I appreciate the way CBJ does that with his players. No one was ever hurt by reading the Bible and praying!

Does He who cared about who won the fight between David's orange slingshot and Goliath's crimson forehead and thus guided the stone, not care enough about the fight third Saturday in October to guide the pigskin? He changes not. Indeed before the day was, the same yesterday, today and forever.

I shouldn't jest. (Ephesians 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.)

God is no respecter of persons, but He does favor those whose hearts are filled with faith in His word.

2 Chronicles 16:9 King James Version (KJV)

9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

I think maybe Miller does things that are most irritating to anti-Christian critics.... He preaches the Gospel and lives it in love toward other people. He doesn't "shut up and keep it to himself"... or give them occasion to condemn his message because of his behavior. The article in brief describes him as a Christ-like servant leader. The Vols are blessed to have someone like that.

That is encouraging news to me. You will see a lot less kids getting into trouble if they'er lives are changed by the Gospel message. Mine was.

Your comment is irrational and, hence, funny. There is a purple elephant standing on my back patio---nobody can see it, not even me, but I know it's there and I also know that the purple elephant cares about me. How do I know these things against all evidence? Because I want to know them, however silly they may seem.

:lolabove:

Dumbest thing I've read on this board. Seriously.

You need help if you are seeing purple elephants that are not there.

Coach Jones should also be commended for embracing team Chaplain Miller. It is setting the house on the rock for a firm foundation. We've seen how the winds of adversity blow with changing situations and seasons. The house that is built on the rock shall stand.

The funny thing is, I as a human felt the need to quickly retort and defend faith in the gospel and probably seemed hasty and short-fused in doing so. I apologize for that sin ( James 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God) and will work on that fault. God loves the sinner even as the doubter scoffs Him and He is patient, long-suffering waiting for each of us to draw near to Him and know the author and the finisher of our faith, our only salvation.

And you're missing the fundamental point --

Look at your avitar / we all see it. Do you really think that came about from a big bang (ie, without design by our Creator)?

Your insecurity is consuming you. Why is Christianity a such a threat to you that you feel compelled to ridicule it?
