Butch Jones embraces team chaplain Tim Miller

I too attended the prestigious University of Parris Island. I think the word is more adaptation, rather than evolution. Humans have always adapted over time to better equipt them for their living environment.
However, humans have not continued to evolve into a more superior being.

This is why I love these kinds of discussions (well as long as people don't get their panties in a wad over them). There are many ways of looking at things and people may see the same things differently.

I do see the bolded as evolution. I may be wrong, but it is the way I see it. As humans we are bigger, stronger, healthier (can be argued these days I suppose) and live longer than we used to. To me that is a superior being than what we used to be.

Once again though. These are good conversations, if allowed to be.

Our basis has remained the same, we have adapted to our surrounding. The major contributor to longer life expectatancy is medical advancement. But anatomy and such has not changed at all. Much like the money our bodies work the same, which is why evolution crowd use the moneys similarities to us as proof of it. (Wonder why monkeys still excist, but thats another story). However, if you attended live tissue training during your time in the Corps, you will know that the pig is nearly identical as well.

Hoorah!!

Ahhhh. I see where we differ in opinion. I consider the medical advancement part as part of evolution too. Intellectual evolution. Semantics.....we're really pretty close in our thinking. Evolution/adaptation, either one works.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot. Pigs. I love em. Especially when they are in bacon form.

Yeah, it really is all the same. Just as i think in the medical advancement, the brain didnt change the way it worked, we just take the lessons from others and advance that type of thinking.

There is a great book called I dont have enough faith to be an atheist. You should read it if you havent really good study. One concept he talks about is the fact that you would consider it common sense that this worthless paragraph on the internet had an author. Yet we are supposed to believe something as marvelous and well written as the earth and all that is one it was an accident with no author.

And yes, bacon is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. I just have to watch the intake, not conducive to marathon running.

Edit, I agree with an earlier poster, This Thread needs to be extinct.

Richard Dawkins was one of the main proponents for scientists to stop calling the "Theory of Evolution" a theory. He was the main one pushing for everyone to just call it a fact. I guess he thinks if everyone in the scientific community does it long enough, everyone else will just fall in line without them actually having to prove it.

Excuse me if I don't put any more credence in this than anyone else's arguments.

I'm not trying to change your opinion, just like I don't try to change anyone else's. Just pointing out that a lot of what people use in their arguments actually holds no merit. IMO Mr. Dawkins holds no merit for the sheer fact that he is trying to deceive people into thinking he is right, instead of doing what scientist say they are suppose to do...prove it.

Do you like donuts? How big was Noah's boat? Which Bible version is your favorite? Do you live in Alabama because you died and went to Hell? You and your brethren have given me a hypothesis. The Bible is a book written by a man to control other men. And women. But really though....do you like donuts?

I have read it. To be honest. Atheist are the ones I believe the least. Maybe that is because of the Marine Corps though. I knew guys in the Marine Corps that called themselves atheist. I also remember those same guys with heads bowed, in reverent silence, when a group of Marines wanted to pray before going into combat. I guess they thought it was better safe than sorry. Which kind of goes against everything they are suppose to believe IMO.

I was going to say something about bacon being mana from heaven, but thought I would let that go.....for now. :)

Do you like donuts? The size of Noahs ark was described in the bible. I live in Alabama because i was stationed here in the military. Does it make you feel smarter to make fun of peon occupations like being a police officer, which is obviously beneath you? What was your last marathon time?

How long have you been a cop if you don't mind me asking?

So you've been in the military and a law enforcement officer for at least a decade and act like a child in an online football forum talking glibly about concepts that you don't understand.

I tried to explain some things earlier and they went ignored or misunderstood. Additionally, many misunderstandings in here have been taken and transformed into ideas that have no truth to them as they are built on incorrect assumptions. Most of science and philosophy has been openly and flippantly mocked in this thread. It's ridiculous seeing entire fields of study get shredded by the various hoops of logic that some of you are able to jump through. By dismissing the entire foundation of ideas that brought us lifestyle-changing revolutions (agriculture, industry, technology, and robotics/AI soon), you are depreciating the importance of all of the work that has been done by the uncountable number of people who all bothered to dedicate their lives to the pursuit of understanding the truth of our existence. They have tried to give you that, and you spit in their faces.

You are so smart. You can take a single post that i believe in God and spin that to mean i am spitting in the face of everyone that works inagriculuture, industry, technology and robotics. Ill be sure to apologize to my engineer wife today. Seems you could use your brilliance on anothet manner than constantly insulting those that dont believe as you do, but i guess when you believe as you do, thats all you got. A constant struggle to attempt to humiliate anyone you doesnt accept you as the smartest person on the room. You attempts to insult anyone here into believing as you do will do nowhere, so yoi should probably just let it go.

Evidence for this claim?

I too am in a peon line of work, I'm a cook. So my understanding of biology, physics and evolution are pedestrian at best but I try to learn new things every day.

My understanding of evolution is that it's not a straight line, there are many branches and splits. The reason there are still monkeys around is because we share a common ancestor. Chimpanzees and other apes lie on a different branch than humans but are all still primates. Just like Neanderthals aren't ancestors of humans, they were on a different branch that more recently split off. They were similar enough to homo sapiens that they could still breed and produce offspring which is why Neanderthal DNA is found in humans that have lineage outside of Africa.

As far as theories go, if it wasn't for quantum mechanics, which is based in theory, we couldn't be having this conversation. The technology we are using to have it would not exist without the understanding of how atoms and subatomic particles behave. Things like Schroedinger's cat and the double slit experiment are extremely hard concepts to get my head around but without them our modern technology would be impossible.

What does Quantum physics have to do with evolution?
Sounds like you are equivocating the term "theory" from one field of science to a completely unrelated field.

It is important to note that the definition of a "scientific theory" (often ambiguously contracted to "theory" for the sake of brevity, including in this page) as used in the disciplines of science is significantly different from, and in contrast to, the common vernacular usage of the word "theory".

Sorry for the confusion. I should have just cut and pasted from Wikipedia. I was trying to address two different points with two different paragraphs.
