It's the second time I've had to say that this year about our HFC. It's now troublingly consistent.

He threw Peterman under the bus against Florida - a coaching decision even more inexplicable than the fake FG.

There are no excuses worth a damn tonight: bye week, at home, more talent, speed, and power to utilize than the other team, a bowl game and momentum on the line.

Butch should have thanked all the seniors, apologized for not having the team ready, and given us some confidence it's going to be different next year.

He didn't do it; another troubling consistency.

Not trying to start crap with people on here, and I love Butch, but he coached like he was scared tonight. All these excuses of our talent level is really starting to piss me off. We may not have the most talent, but we have much better talent than the Nashville nerds.

Butch Jones played scared today. We played like some small time college football school that suddenly found themselves ahead of a good team and didn't know what to do. Sadly, that's Tennessee football now, smalltime.

Franklin and Vandy came into Knoxville knowing they will gut out a win. They beat the crap out of us with the same play. Vandy, right now, sadly, is a better football program than UT. And they own the state.

How about trying to get your own thoughts instead of repeating Matt Millens.

The truth is we are slow with very little talent and depth.

Here's another mindless robot that get's his thoughts from what the announcers say.

Good coaches are supposed to be able to coach mediocre players up. For God's sake Franklin has gotten vandy into a bowl 3 years in a row. Vandy!!!! That alone should tell you what a good coach can do.

Nice try, but I didn't even watch it on tv,I listened to it on the radio. Slower than Vanderbilt? Worse talent than Vanderbilt?

her post was coherent, so there is no way she was repeating Matt Millen. Furthermore, she isn't saying anything different than tons of people are saying. We are not slower and thinner than Vanderbilt. Their entire secondary was out.

Tonight sucked. There's no excuse. But the fourth down play really didn't impact the game, IMO. It was as good as a punt. And as for Butch, his record will speak for itself one way or the other. Who cares what he says to the fans after a loss? The players had his back after the game and that's more important to our program right now than whether or not fans are warm and fuzzy over his post game speech.

So far...after this loss...he's been more trumpet player than Coach. I find his post game comments pure cowardice.

In fairness, he's more like top 20; at least he will be next year when his buyout doesn't count.

Just going by what ESPN said earlier. Maybe it's the way they calculate it. Either way if based on wins grossly overpaid. IMO

I hear what you're saying Freak. I'm just saying what I would have liked to have heard as a fan after that (and after Florida).

Also I would have rather the players had his back on the field than in the presser.

It sucks not going to a bowl again, especially after pulling out the USCe game. We just left a lot on the field this year, IMHO. Year Two has to show significant improvement in the team as a whole.

About $2 million of his income this year was his buyout and signing bonus. It makes this year's salary a bit misleading. But technically he was top five, but won't be next season. :hi:

There's not much Butch could have said one way or the other that would make me feel any better about tonight. I'm sure he's frustrated and has used up all if his rah rah speeches.

I think the players have his back on and off the field. I know it sounds corny, but I think that's important. Dooley never earned the players respect.

I'm disappointed too. Believe me. Ever since 2005 I can't count how many times I've said to myself "this has to be the bottom."

I want to agree with this, and I don't think it's corny. If the players truly have his back, you are absolutely right, that is by far the most important thing going forward.

I think it's possible that yet another coaching change has diluted the talent we have on the field. The O-Line is a perfect example and their performance this year to last. It also looks like Alabama took the fight out of this team, and they weren't able to recover.

But that's why Year Two is so critical to Butch Jones now. He's really got to exceed expectations even with the talent we lose on both lines.

That fake FG was the worst designed play I've ever witnessed in major college football. They had to be smoking something fierce to think that had any chance of working.

Now I know why they call you "The Freak". Well said. It would be interesting to hear what he said to the players post game without the Media present.

The signing bonus was pretty significant ($500,000) and should be counted as part of his salary.
