Butch Jones Offensive Genius

Came across this randomly and thought it was funny... Butch literally has a diagram of the simplest play in football to commemorate that win against Georgia as if it was somehow due to his offensive genius:
There’s an even better story than this…

Zach Azzani, the wide receiver coach wanted Jennings on the field and made Butch call timeout prior to the play to get him on the field and in a different spot going down on the Hail Mary . Butch actually questioned him about it, but went through with it. So even in his best moment, he almost F’d it up.

Remember hearing this back on Volquest replays during covid interviews with former coaches and players .

I can't stand the guy either but damn, can he not be happy about a miracle walk off win? Don't think the point of the picture is anything but to show how crazy of a game it was. People have some weird fascination with Butch and Lane. Move on for goodness sakes.

Thank you.

Jones was clearly in way over his head here, and he's long gone. Let it go, people.

The first drive against UGA was outstanding, probably the best all season. We clicked on just about everything. In all honesty, Nico played very well in that game, he threw in windows on 3rd and long and extended drives multiple times. Where we lost the UGA and Ohio State games is the defense. We didn’t get any pressure on Beck or Howard, our linebackers and safeties are way too slow and were out of position on misdirection and we didn’t make any adjustments when we weren’t getting pressure. Our offense is not really good off schedule or when we are battling back from behind.

And, in my opinion, we were completely outcoached by Kirby and his staff the second half.

We scored 7 after the first quarter. GA scored how many? You can rattle off numbers all you want. Anyone watching the flow of that game knew it was going downhill after the 1st.
It's easy after the fact to come to those conclusions. The fact is though, we still had a chance to win the game in the middle of the 4th quarter, no matter how it looked up to that point in the 2nd half

It happens. Many of the biggest games of the last 50 years were heavily one-sided. I'm talking about Super Bowls and NC games too! We certainly were beaten that badly in our best times during the 1990s, multiple times with far more talent. Joe Paterno handed both Johnny and Phillip an old fashioned just two years apart. Spurrier got us a few times. Nebraska got us twice in 3 years.

The sky isn't falling

I agree, and I think there need to be some serious self evaluation that takes place in both schemes. Our reluctance to bring more than 4 or 5 guys when we aren’t getting pressure on the QB for the majority of the game is something that might want to be looked at . Offensively, our lack of motion when not going fast isn’t giving defenses enough to think about . We seem to have gotten less creative, and even though our stats show we’re a good football team I think it’s fair to say we were more dynamic in 21 and 22.

His ultra negative shtick gets old ….. yours is not as bad, but close
At what point does it stop being negativity and just simply reality? All we get shoved down our throats here is “ don’t you remember what our 15 years of misery were like, blah, blah”? At what point do we stop using our misery as the measuring stick and revert back to using the glory days as our measuring stick? That’s what TN football can be, and we should all want that. No one has forgotten what a **** show this program was. Not for a second.

It was probably a gift or just a cool way to commemorate the highest point of his career. I think you're reading way too much into this

Sad to think he was the last coach to beat Kirby Smart and Georgia. Almost coming up on a decade since that win. Not looking good for Heupel and his gang of idiots. 4 years and can't even make the game competitive.
You are not even a good troll. The last game was competitive.

.... and it's not like Georgia hasn't gotten better since 2016, loser. Also, you are not someone to be calling anyone else an idiot. Will someone please ban this guy? PLEASE!
