Butch Jones Post Presser - UT vs UF

Glad to see a coach show some emotion on both the sideline and in the post game presser. I also was glad to see him not stand up there and destroy Peterman which is what would have happened under the last regimes .

I love his concluding remarks: "We have a lot of positive things going forward that, maybe, to the outside world they don't see but everyone within the coaching profession does see."

Tough loss but I'm all in. Butch has these young men fighting untill the end. Butch is a "process" kinda coach for sure. I expect incremental improvement each and ever week.

I don't mind his decision to leave peterman in as long as he did. In fact I respect that he has the fortitude to stay the coarse with their decision. Worley even looked a little better once he got his chance. Anyhow, Go Vols!!! Good times ahead

Nice to have a coach not throwing the team under the bus. Still playing as a family. Those types of comments we pay off for him..The players will keep playing for him and the recruits will want to play for him.

This thread is just incomprehensible to me.

We have sucked. We have done nothing of note and walked in with unwind able game plans two weeks in a row and people are praising bullshiz coach speak from a post game press conference.

He might get somewhere and win here, but our coordinators are definitely weak relative to conference peers and we have no coherent strategy. That is nothing remotely akin to "gets it."

Honestly, the mood around here is exactly the same as when DD started.

I don't give a crap about what you say in the post game presser-

Just win baby.

We are four games into a new system. Think about the baby steps with a new buisness or a family digging out of debt. It don't happen over night... Takes a bunch of small calculated steps and sometimes from the outside things look worse before they get better.

We played Quite possibly the best team in the country last week and got burned. Its exactly what a lot of us expected to happen....

This week, he decided to give another QB a chance; ya know, something the fans have been clamoring for and that QB executed poorly. We have an overrated line (they are all dooley recruits and while they are decent, they are nowhere near da best) and outside of them tons of inexperience and depth issues. I would say that a 14 point loss to the Gators in the swamp and covering is about as good as one could ask. We aren't world beaters right now. We're actually pretty mediocre.

Did you see the team that we played today? UF played one of it's worst games in at least a decade.

Or... they are as good as the pro scouts seem to think and aren't being coached up or utilized to take advantage of their skill and talent.

I'm not giving up on Jones yet but there are WAY too many of you bending over backward to excuse him and his staff.

Like it or not, my response is just as plausible as your defense of the staff. It might make you feel better to believe it is something other than the staff... but that doesn't mean it is reasonable to ignore the possibility that MOST of the blame lays at the feet of Jones and his staff.

Agreed but FL has More speed and depth than we do right now.

again... Baby steps. I don't think anyone is estatic with our team right now but that don't mean butch and company are failures. The jurry is and should still be out

If they were as good as the pro scouts seem to think, they wouldn't be getting abused.

I'm not ready to throw in the towell on Butch yet, after all it is only his 4th game, but I have to admit that I definitely see a few kinks in his armor.

Like not having talent comparable to what other SEC teams have?

No, more like running the read option with a QB that can't and refuses to run for starters. We should have enough talent to compete with all of the teams left on our schedule past SC, you predict we win them all?

I don't blame the coaches for anything that is going on right now. They can't make QB's have fire in their guts and be leaders. The players either have it or they don't. They can't make RB's faster than they can physically be or WR's suddenly gain experience from out of nowhere.

What I want to see is a what Butch has eluded to several times: A true leader at QB who crawls a WR's ass when he drops a pass or gets so mad when he loses that he practically lives in the film room the next week trying to figure out how he screwed up and how to fix it.

People laughed at Tebow when he cried after losing the SEC Championship but you know what, I want a QB who feels that much pain during a loss. It should matter to you. Take some pride in yourself, get back up off the ground and show this fanbase why you were recruited to come play for one of the most passionate group of fans walking the earth in any sport.

Go Big Orange!
