Can anyone summarize his comments from the show for those unable to watch? Thanks

I caught some of it. "I told the team that losing is never acceptable at Tennessee, it's not acceptable, we played well at first, Worley did well getting us a TD then it got away from us, but we talked about this, it's where we are in our program and it's a process, brick-by-brick, need the fans to stay with us" and so on.

Also the loss of three slot guys forced a game plan change on Wednesday. Extremely tough to do especially against the Ducks.

talk bad about coach jones if you want but he owned it, said it was unacceptable, it would take time and it is what it is. was glad the players didn't quit. etc

the thing I appreciated was I didn't have to listen to any cute sayings about germans, hotsauce or any of the other duma$$ DD sayings. he also didn't throw any players under the bus.

Saying "we need to recruit, recruit, recruit" right after this blowout is not throwing current players under the bus? :birgits_giggle:

If you think that's what throwing someone under the bus looks like, I'd be willing to bet you need thicker skin.

Not really. It was a depth issue as well. Everyone including players felt the lack of depth yesterday. Especially defense

He also gave the context that the team lacks depth, which is just a fact, not throwing anyone under the bus. You can't play Oregon when you can't even go to your bench without having to deploy players who don't have the ability or experience to compete with them. There's nothing that Butch can do about that except to recruit.

I'm just worried how the current players interpret this statement. On the one hand he says I love this guys and trust them while at the same time says this about recruiting. It's the timing of when he said it that bothers me (right after the blowout while answering questions about this specific game as if implying that coaching and game plan was ok but there is only so much coaches can do with these players). I agree that players may not be talented enough but there was also evidence yesterday that the coaches may be in over their head as well (this is no longer Cincy or Central Michigan and who knows if these coaches have what it takes - sure did not look like it yesterday).

I'm certain that the first people to notice that our players were unable to match step with UofO were in fact our players. Nothing negative implied toward our kids but facts are facts.
