Butch Jones UT Staff Salaries released

Wow... So CJG makes less than almost everyone on the staff. Being a good coach and the only one with orange ties, it pisses me off that he isn't paid a little more than the others. It seems like he is undervalued.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how these salaries are justified? I mean do Mahoney and Stripling have more experience, or are they just getting paid more because of familiarity?

Stripling is the assistant head coach so that probably justifies his salary but not sure about Mahoney.

Here is the answer on why you dont see Tee Martin on our staff. They couldn't pay him more than the OC is making to be the position coach.

Cost of living in LA is not the same as it is in Knoxville. Martin would have had more savings to put away with what we were offering, but the wife had more to say about this decision than he did.

("SOME") coaches put more value on their Offensive line coaches because the offense relies so much on their blocking schemes (hence the higher salary).
Stripling on the other hand has a higher salary because he is the AHC as well.

Thanks for the information, but UTSports website has:

John Jancek (DC/LB)
Tommy Thigpen (CB)
Willie Martinez (S)
UT posted that before they talked to Butch. For some reason they have not changed it yet, lazy bastards. Thigpen(LB) Martinez will coach the entire secondary. Jancek confirmed in an iterview I watched. Says he will be a "walk around coordinator". I was suprised by Thigpen not being recruiting coordinator.

The reported offer to Tee was $200,000/yr, but for the sake of arguement, let's say it was $300,000/yr, more in line with what ZA is making. Tee is reportedly making $500,000/yr at USC. Hard to believe there's a $200,000/yr cost of living difference between knoxville and LA.

I've heard conflicting stories on how much of a role his wife played into the decision, so any comment on the subject is speculation.

So we are still paying Sal more than any assistant we currently have. Just incredible how bad that hire really was.

She was a one hit wonder
One hit blunder imo, should not even be considered music. I was one of the few saying that BEFORE Tee declined to come home. Lets have a vote, what story makes you laugh more? Tee turning down Tennessee cause his wife is the next Beyonce and cant leave LA. Or Rodney Garner will never leave Georgia because his wife can only shop at Atlanta stores. :)

No doubt his wife's entertainment career will more than make up for it.

Is this sarcasm? Toya's career peaked 12 years ago and she hasn't recorded anything of substance in years. Not sure what backup singers make but I'm thinking it isn't much. Not a knock on her at all but Tee is the bread winner in that family.

Butch is smart, take care of your people, they'll take care of you !

And UT is full of ****ing idiots. They are taking care of about four coaching staffs for two sports. Sunseri can still possibly be paid 1.3 million for the next two years according to GVX.

Worst hire and contract in UT history? I can't think of anyone that even comes close. I guess you could argue Dave Clawson but I think he only made about 300K.

He's gonna wish he had taken it. Days at USC are probably limited.

While they had high expectations this year, I highly doubt Kiffin even gets judged for another 2 years considering the penalties levied on USC.

Basically the staff salary is the same as Dooley last year except Dooley was paying his OC and DC $600,000 per year while Jones cut that down to $475,000 and spread out the savings to increase assistant salaries.

So we were paying Sal $600,000 a year for that stuff. I could of saved Tennessee some money and done just as good as Sal did. :rtfm: I would of done it for $500,000 :eek:lol: Probaly had out defense playing a little better. Couldn't of been any worse. :)

At least CBJ doesn't feel the need to pay $800k a year for a coordinator that is untried.
