No one we targeted wanted the job. If the search had begun sooner and we used a firm we could have found a much better coach.

In 6 years as a head coach he has finished first in his conference 4 times. I know the conferences weren't as big as the SEC but the players he had weren't SEC players either. What I'm saying is when all things are equal 4 out of 6 years he came out on top. Every great coach starts somewhere, we have to give the guy a shot if he is our guy.

I don't know what the hell Hart is thinking with this hire. Especially when you consider who's still available! I would not have approached Butch Jones until guys like Butch Davis, Jim Tressel, Petrino, and a few NFL guys said no.

Of course I'll give the guy a chance. Hell I have no choice as a UT fan. I'll be paying close attention to who he assembles for a staff and what kind recruiting impact he has on this class. If he surprises everyone and turns in a better than expected class, I'll at least give him this year. If he $hits the bed immediately coming out of the gate, I'll have no confidence in him whatsoever.

He's ridden on coattails for several years and won with another coaches recruits.

There's zero proof that he can recruit top SEC type players and get us back to winning in the SEC.

I'd rather see AD Hart bump up the offer to $4.5 to $5 Million per year and go get a real coach that's also PROVEN that he can recruit top players against the best recruiters in the business.

We need a rock solid HOMERUN hire and we need it NOW because the SEC is only getting tougher.

I think Pelini wanted and Davis wanted it, and maybe a couple of NFL guys wanted it. Hope he comes through and peforms greatly.

only signature win. And UT AD tries to hire that coach. NC State fired their coach, and mentioned a loss to UT as one of the reasons.

How many schools will have as good, or better X's and O's coach, AND much better recruiting power? 1. Alabama 2.LSU 3. Georgia 4. Florida 5. South Carolina 6. A&M 7. Arkansas( yes they did much better than Jones)
