Butch Jones would be a good hire for us

I understand what you are saying, but let's not forget that we played 5 of the top 10 teams. I may be wrong because I haven't looked, but I'm fairly certain Saban didn't play 50% of the top 10 teams his first season.
Nah man that doesn't matter if he was a good coach he would have our 3rd string qb and walk ons on defense coached up and we had plenty of talent to beat those teams don't you know?

We just went 5-7, and some are wanting to use this as an i-told-you-so thread?

Most people not wearing orange colored glasses expected a 5 or 6 win season this year regardless of who our coach was. The I told you so is coming from the strides Butch has made with our program off the field with recruiting amd culture.

At this point, an 8 win season sounds like heaven to me.
I think this opinion is representative of a lot of the fan base particularly those who were too young to enjoy the run we had from the mid 80s til about 2001. If we were willing to settle for 8 win seasons and mediocre bowl invitations then Fulmer would still be here. We all saw how many coaching changes Bama went through to get from Stallings to Saban and realized that could be the route we'd have to take as well.

CFB Rule 1: jimmies and joes > x's and o's

And if we're not winning in 2015 with a 4star at every position....then by all means let's push harder for more 5stars.

I think young players pick up on a coach really selling and embracing a program. I think CBJ really wanted this job. He reminds me of Coach Pearl the way players feed off his energy and drive to win. Like us fans we appreciate when someone isn't hiding there enthusiasm.

Ridiculous.

We should have learned lessons from the Alabama example. Instead, Mike Hambone Hamilton hires, not one, BUT TWO sons of coaches. Not real coaches - sons of real coaches.

If Hambone had brought in Gruden (or similar calibre) and handled the Fulmer transition with class, we would all be applauding.

Instead he humiliated a Tennessee Legend and hired Monte Kiffin and Barbara Dooley's son and brought us five years of absolutely abysmal Tennessee football and counting.

If anyone wanted the "Alabama model" of coaching transitions, they should be locked in the stocks on Phil Fulmer Way and pelted with oranges.
