Butch says no grey uniforms for Florida, undecided if we'll wear them at all in 2014

Yes, conveniently.

The blue hair grumpy crowd doesn't care about facts.

The gray crowd does not understand the meaning of PREDOMINANTLY ORANGE (conveniently ignoring or don't have the dictionary handy?).

And the orange stands out against the blue, so that's acceptable. And we're in luck, because blue is on the palette of acceptable colors to use with the orange.

Currently it's called Globe on the palette, but we can rename it to Bluetick to make it more along the lines of our current traditions.

Take that up with the NCAA committee. It's their rules. Or better yet, trek every road opponent they have to wear white at home when they host the Vols.

I wasn't talking about away games. Vols wear predominantly white helmets and often predominantly white pants at home.

I'm all for the all orange. But this discussion has been about jerseys, not necessarily the pants. I don't want orange on gray combo because that's too similar to Georgia and their red on silver.

White pants or helmets don't make the overall uniforms predominantly white if jerseys are orange. Of course if it was up to me we would always go all orange (with white numbers on jerseys and white T on the helmets). Before you call me close minded or worse let me add that I'm ok with black or gray underwear.

I disagree. But the point is missed. Some say that having a uniform that is predominantly white is only okay because of the NCAA rules regarding home/away games. The same people have not raised a voice about the predominantly white helmets, which often stands alone as the symbol for Tennessee football (e.g. helmet schedules). The same people will rarely mention the white pants. Why would Tennessee ever choose to wear white pants at home? According to the logic and philosophies of the anti-gray, there is no reason; but I don't hear anyone crying about that?

I am asking because I am very ignorant, but where does the phrase "predominantly orange" come from? What is the reason that you believe the uniforms are supposed to be predominantly orange? I just don't understand where that idea comes from???

Really? I see some color in there.

The point isn't that gray came first. It's that they didn't pull a color out of their butts when they came up with the alternates. It really doesn't seem like a big deal

That looks familiar, lol.

I'm happy to cry about that for you - I agree with the part of your post that's in bold.
Should be all predominantly orange (especially helmets when used as standalone symbol of UT football).

I can appreciate you, sir. You, at least, are logically consistent. But there are many in your corner that aren't.

Thanks. But for your own good be careful about saying anything nice about me around here - I was a big Dooley supporter (not only because of orange pants ) and made a lot of hate :machgun: lists.

I was also a Dooley supporter... until he was no longer coach.

My take on the unis...what was Oregon before the dayglo uni? They got a lot of attention and kept it going. there were a ton of recruits who made statements about their unis. So there is a place for the alternate uni.. Let's stop the discussion about changing the norm because it won't happen and shouldn't. Personally I think Mizzou was way cooler with the "M" on the helmet and in the center of the field. Now there logo seems division 2

In this thread it probably comes from me (as response to people who keep bringing same response to my posts that having few traces of orange on alternate uniforms is all that is needed). I maintain that we can't keep calling ourselves 'Big Orange' if we don't have predominantly orange on the uniforms - just seems very logical to me (and I love the color and tradition it represents).
