Butch's Loyalty?

Y'all are killing me. Last time I checked we had two long runs and numerous TFL. Our O-line is bad. Throwing it was the right call QB just made (a rare this season) bad decision. Chill.
If he ran the ball four times and got know where y'all would be upset because, "our receivers are so talented." Throw it to North/Pig/Malone and play to your strength.

Underrated post, I agree

i personally would like to see a direct snap to hurd, or for that matter the BEAST PACKAGE with a HUGE guy back there on 3rd and 2. I bet we get the 2 in that case..

Either way, tough place for us to be, sorry that play happened, sure would like to take 2 plays back in that game -- the same 2 that our coaches would like to have a different result. the Pass to Croom could have been caught, and the pick-6 should not have been thrown.

Sadly, it's time to talk SEC games now, so let's go give Georgia some fits... :)

I see where your coming from, but aj is already playing every snap on D and playing special teams. I would hate to have him do something else and lose him to injury. We could what if that play to death but the reality is Worley never took his eyes off north. He had a guy open on the right....

Oh well can't really fault Worley though. He knew he had to get rid of the ball QUICK. So he eyed his best receiver down and tried to make a play before he got lit up.

No moral victories. The Vols fought hard to the end and we haven't seen that in years. They play for Butch Jones. He has to hire a new Offensive Coordinator. The play calling was irrational. When game should have been cut to 27-17 the OC put Worley and the offense in a very high risk low reward situation. It was irresponsible to NOT run the ball when Worley took it inside the 5 (with a chance to get another 1st down). Especially after having so much success running the ball the second half. 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and 2 of them are bad. The Vols had no business being in the game and the 34-10 doesn't really tell the story because of that late junk pick TD that shouldn't have even been called. Way to go young Vols for carrying the fight to Norman! The offensive play calling was simply inexcusable at times. At crucial times

Our offense looks leaps and bounds ahead of where it was last year. We are breaking in an all new OL.
So your logical and rational solution is fire the OC and break in a new qb with a new OC next year. Let's fire Jones while we're at it. After all, it's his system.

When would you like to field a competitive team?

I think I withhold judgment for a bit. Let's see what happens the rest of the year.

Seriously dude. What the hell do you think you know? Because you watch football on Saturdays and maybe played in a few games you somehow know better than Butch? Get on board or sit down and shut up.

They need to stop throwing so many passes behind the line of scrimmage (bubble screens). OU was too fast and closed so quickly. Most SEC opponents will be all over those plays as well. I don't understand why we don't throw the slant instead.

Other than Bama, name another SEC team that we play with the defensive size and speed that OU had...please...

a run inside the 5 guarantees to not have an interception and you walk away with at least 3 points ..

Then some on here would be arguing that we didn't go for the win and the run cost us the game. Hindsight is 20/20. If runnin the ball was the obvious call in that situation even more reason NOT to call it. Worley hadn't made a mistake like that all year. OC can't see the future. He felt like it was the best call to win the game. I think the bigger play was when Croom let the ball sail through his hands in the Endzone and the CB came up with the pick. If Croom had scored 10 point ball game when we drove into Ocklahoma territory and instead of a pass you might have seen a less aggressive play all. 3 points would have turned it into a 1 possession game. 3 points would have been huge. Little things throughout the game has an impact on what is called. You can't look at a play in a vacuum. Context is everything.

Call time out there and get the right play called.....I have confidence that the qb and the OC were on the same page.......

wait...whut?....coach calls in a play.
qb says ..whut ? f that and calls time out? ...you have a head coach before?..you ever have a get in your face coach?...same page because coach said so. this is not the nfl. this kids have no contract that gets them paid. coaches are the boss period.

I dont want any coached fired..just want the coaches who expect these kids to be great to be great.

Maybe I'm naive, but I truly believe that Butch is 100% committed to making the VOLS into a winner. I don't see him as a job-hopper, and I feel like he wants to be the coach here for a LONG time.

We are a DESTINATION job, and I believe he sees it that way. GBO
