Buy stock in Arian Foster....

Just seems, on the surface, like a bad idea.

What happens when some crazy idiot invests his life savings in an athlete, then said athlete's career tanks, crazy idiot loses everything, and then hunts down and attacks the athlete? After all, it's the athlete's fault the crazy idiot lost everything. Espeicially with the Texans...Schaub's already been theatened at his own house, and you can't even buy Schaub stock yet.

Or even better, you start getting "insider trading" and people close to the athlete, who've bought stock, know before anyone else that said athlete has a career-ending injury, and they liquidate, cash out, and leave the regular joe athlete investor with worthless stock.

Not allowing any one person or group to own more than 1% .. households making 75k to 150k have a more limited amount of money they are allowed to invest ... the company has tried to put some safties in their listing.

AF gets guaranteed 10M now .. his future earnings have to be over 50M before he nets less money.

I would invest into Foster, but my money would probably get fumbled away at the most important time.

AF is on the decline in his career. He is still decent but not the horse he was in years past. Buying stock in a athlete is probably the dumbest proposition I've heard of in a while. If I was going to invest in one particular person, It wouldn't be an athlete who got through college because HE WAS AN ATHLETE. In a couple years AF will be a "has been" like Eddie George and he will probably have a "post career" like Jose Canseco.

short that

depends.. he could sign a contract to do a McD's commercial for couple million, makes him more high profile and the stock value goes up .. he might not attain the 50m "break even" point, but doesn't mean the perceived value of his stock won't rise.

How do you define VFL?

This should be interesting..

Well, it depends. I don't want to get into semantics about whether a person actually attended the university or not.

So, if we open the door to all fans, in the most top level definition there is, I would call a VFL any person who has and always will represent the University of Tennessee proudly and always strive to reflect positively on the university in everything they do. Whatever it is in life that they do, they are always attached to the university, love the university, and showcase their pride of the university to the public, through good times and bad.

I have my doubts that Arian truly loves the University of Tennessee, but I also believe that any negativity he has towards Tennessee was brought on by the way he, and his former coaches, were treated by former university employees.

As a former Pride member and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, I choose to believe that I did my part to fulfill the "I will give my all for Tennessee today" slogan. And I also feel that I'm a VFL. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not.

Is Arian more VFL than I? I doubt it, but again, it's all about how you define it.

Foster will come out a few years down the road and admit to insider trading and just laugh when asked about it and say he thinks that might have been illegal but it shouldn't have been.

Doubt AF feels the way you do. He could give a "F" about UT.

Every time I see something negative about AF, I expect his mom to appear and start threads in defense of him.

Lmao, you are more of a VFL then the pro bowl starting RB for a NFL franchise, that attended UT and was the starting RB for UT.

Lmfao...John Gruden talking about AF going to UT just one time on Monday night football, does more for the University then 100 years of whatever you do.

Guess that makes Kelley Washington a VFL as well, by your definition, unless being a Pro Bowler is a requirement.

I won't disagree that Arian's national exposure doesn't generate more discussion about Tennessee than my 4 years in the Pride, my career as an engineer, or my wearing orange everyday does. It would be foolish and ignorant of me to think that I will ever come close to having the notoriety of someone in Arian Foster's position.

But I would think a VFL would choose to not throw his Alma Mater under the bus for personal gain, but hey, I'm not going to tell you how to feel about the guy.
