which would make her a Keynesian economist, right? I'm trying to wrap my head around an economic philosophy that views government spending as superior to a private market.

She's of that mind only because the government is decidedly more efficient than the private sector, as has been proven over and over again.

The stuff I'm talking about is not Keynesian per se. It was more about Global Competitiveness and should the U.S. have an "Industrial Policy" such a Japan does where it targets and subsidizes/supports particular industry segments for global competitive reasons.

The argument was that we already have an ad hoc one ranging from tariff policies to protect textiles (at the time of the book) all the way to intervention at the corporate level with the Chrysler loan.

I agree that we do have ad hoc intervention that is at the whim of politicians protecting their own states but don't agree we need a national policy of intervention (e.g. shipbuilding, steel, etc.)
