You are gonna be saying, we just did WHAT? This will go down as one of the best recruiting classes in UT history. We will fill every single need we have in this class. We will have some of the best skill position players in the country committed. And I wouldn't be shocked if we have three QB's in this class either including a JuCo guy that will be an early enrollee and ready to start from day one.

We have 3 public commits, but we almost certainly have some silents and over the course of the summer we should sign about 4 or 5 more. The camp in June will result in tons of new offers and some that will commit on the spot. We should end up with somewhere around 30 prospects when it's all said and done and while the rankings may not reflect it, the best class in the nation in terms of filling needs with quality athletes. Top 5 class easily, but the goal is #1 for the coaches and they haven't disappointed us yet.

Get on board the recruiting wagon now, folks because it is gonna be one helluva ride.

I agree with what you have to say for the most part. I just wish these quarterbacks would start committing so we could have a better idea how this will turn out. That is all I am really skeptical about. I think if we concentrated on this years qb's when Kiffin first arrived on campus, then we should be ok. I don't know how likely it is that that happened, given that the staff took two months to put together. I assume with what history has shown us, that is exactly what did happen. I would think that Kiffin saw that as his biggest need before he stepped foot on campus. I am just a little schizophrenic about it right now.

I agree 100%, however, the harsh reality is that the top 5 will also include UF, Bama, and possibly LSU/UGA. Look for UF to sign one of the best classes ever. I also would not be surprised if Bama ended up #1...again.

Thanks, and thanks!

Bama being #1 with the few schollies they have is stretching it. Top 5...maybe. They are off to a good start but that is hardly indicative of how they will finish. They have more offers out then we do though. Florida will definitely be top 10, but they have a similar situation to Bama -- not that many schollies to give. I think everyone in their last class is set to qualify.

We can definitely jump those two. I wouldn't be surpised to see FSU in the top 5 regardless of the sanctions against them and USC will likely make top 5 with the wealth of talent that is in southern California this year.

So UF will have one of the best classes EVER but Alabama will finish with the #1 class? I am still wrapping my mind around that one. I will get back with you once I have more time to contemplate that.

Does that make Alabama's class THE best ever?

I agree with you Sab with this staff we should sown the road, probably next year and beyond will have a top five class. As for Alabama having a number 1 class I don't think they'll ever have that again. Plus with this staff that we have we're definately going to be Satan's rival in terms of recruiting, plus losing Kevin Steele and Lance Thompson is alot to overcome. Alot of those recruits that Saban got were recruited by Lance Thompson. But I agree we're going to have some great classes for years to come as long as this staff is together.

Great thread, Sab.

This is the year we recruit champions!

They may win one as juniors, but they will not be denied when they are seniors with the kind of talent that will follow them in the years hereafter.

limited numbers will keep UF from being #1, but they will cherry pick the top talent in the nation. Bama will find a way to sign 25 kids, book it.

whats crazy is the sec is on top as far as talent today..... with these power recruiters at UT, bama, fla, ga, lsu it is just going to get even more ugly for conferences like the PAC 10, Big 10, etc. from here on out.... we are witnessing another step up in the dominance of our conference and i'm glad im along for the ride.... i can only hope that in a couple years orange is the color that carries the flag for the SEC

I don't think that is just fanboy talk either. I mean this staff is downright UNPRECEDENTED! What college team gets the best NFL Defensive Coordinator to defect to the college ranks (without having been fired)...then one of the very best D-Line coaches in college or NFL to defect from the NFL?

Tom Cable, the new HC with the Raiders was pissed at Kiffin snagging Cregg from his staff. What team has 4 former Recruiting Coordinators, and 2 national "Recruiters of the Year" on staff at once?

The NFL connections are going to start paying off BIG TIME, just you see. In fact, they already have. We hurdled the reigning National Champions in the recruiting rankings (they were ahead of us on Signing Day...before we got Oku and Brown). That's a tall order to out-recruit the Gators any given year, but on the heels of a NC...and with a brand new staff?

These thoughts have been forming with me since December for the most part. With just a few of the coaches know at that time, every thing that has happened since then only reaffirms my thoughts and your post.

The Flood Gates are open..........

Nice Post.

I'm not sure if we can pull off top 5 when we are taking so many offensive linemen who are most likely not to be ranked high. I mean, most of our class are going to be linemen on both sides of the ball and linemen are the toughest to evaluate by these recruiting services.

As long as we fill our needs and find some difference makers in the players who fill them I'll be satisfied even if the rankings don't reflect it.

Before I clicked on this thread I thought for a second that Griff had written something:cool:

Two words for you to think about...Montori and Hughes.
Not highly rated til after signing day, when the recruiting services admitted they whiffed on him.
If this staff likes someone, I doubt they care where they are rated. One thing it does is somewhat force the hand of some of the fence-sitters that think they can string us out til signing day with an offer still in hand. After summer camps, they'll start coming in...I think Stone out of Nashville will be one of them.
