'19 CA ATH/WR Horace "Bru" McCoy (Tennessee commit)

Not really. I don't get impressed with mediocre collegiate football.

That all depends...if Vandy has a 5-7 or 6-6 season this year, it would be a big success for them and actually a hell of a job considering everything.

That would be impressive because I don't see them winning 4.

No it wouldn’t impress you. “I don’t get impressed with mediocre collegiate football” and what is more mediocre than 6-6?

Speaking of mediocre (maybe the wrong word)…I got bored last night and rewatched the Purdue and KY games. I didn’t notice it before but Hendon missed a lot of wide open throws.

Not complaining but man, I’ve seen Nico hit much more difficult throws. Nico is gonna ball out in this offense.

I thought KY was one of his best games, granted I only watched it once live. Purdue was a tough one. He had about four throws that if he hits any one of them we win that game.

There were more than that. Missed some really wide open receivers. Once the receiver ran the wrong route and once he got tipped on the elbow so those are not his fault.

Also, I don’t know if the RBs fault or his but he fumbles a lot of balls that get hit be the RB option and keep. They need to work on that

I've silently been thinking this awhile now. Hendon was great in a lot of aspects, and I am so thankful to have him... but he did miss a lot of open throws last season, we just tend to remember all the spectacular ones.

If he improves and hits 2-3 more of those throws per game it could be a bust out season for Heupel and Co, even if the D is only marginally better.

He really wasn't great just good.
Part system, part improvement, part settling in.. If he makes another jump he could be outstanding

Good on not throwing a buttload of interceptions
Not good w ball security fumbles
Slightly inaccurate thrower sometimes / inconsistent

I was saying almost from the beginning of the Purdue game that he really wasn't playing well. I got reamed by everybody in the game thread. He should have had several more TDs and the game should have been over at halftime

Yea, if you go back and look…almost every pass was wide open. Hard to throw INTs when your targets are open. I think it’s the system spreading everyone out. Plus he made good reads

This is a tough crowd. Hooker is the most complete QB we’ve had in a long, long time. He’s a good passer and an above average runner. He is more accurate and has better touch than Dobbs, but not as good of a runner. Better runner than Tyler but a little less accurate. But combined you get a rock solid QB. Ball security was not an issue. Half the time he was running for his life behind that make shift, banged up line.
I guess I thought more highly of his performance last year than some of you. I’m very excited to see what he can do in year 2.

Relax, I think most everyone thinks he’s great. I was just pointing out some stuff I saw rewatching the game. I’m pretty sure this offense is gonna make any QB look good as long as they are fairly accurate

Still, he left a LOT of throws out there

The ball security is a great point... I cringe every time the pocket starts to collapse

Edit: I've already said I am thankful to have him... he had a highly effective year, and I expect he can improve this year. A wr like Bru could help HH take that next step from good to great

From tos:
“What's up, yall? This is Chris Hummer, I work on the national side of things at 247Sports and do a lot of transfer portal coverage.

I just wanted to drop a quick note on my Bru McCoy to Tennessee Crystal Ball pick.

Talking to a few people, I think Tennessee is in great shape with McCoy. Ahead of the visit I had one source tell me there's a chance Bru just shuts everything down while in Knoxville. Generally, I just think there's a lot of positive momentum with the Vols right now. I think the family is excited about Bru's potential fit within the offense.

That said, a source did indicate there's a chance McCoy might end up taking one more visit. Schools like Oregon (there's a strong Drew Mehringer connection) have been in the mix.

Still, I feel like Tennessee is in a really good spot.”

Yeah all our people are basically saying it's a done deal
