'19 CA ATH/WR Horace "Bru" McCoy (Tennessee commit)

Correct me if I’m wrong but do these things ever happen to kids transferring to bama, Georgia, OSU, Clemson...
Maybe I’m off but I don’t recall hearing of any issues.
The answer to your question (which I know was rhetorical), is an emphatic NO! They don't happen at those places.

Hm, I have a hard time believing that. Coaches are typically the drivers of this, no? If not it would be in Riley’s best interest to pressure his boss to acquiesce to his request as this ultimately makes him look bad. In the age of transfers…
I can't imagine why Riley would be involved. He probably doesn't even know Bru really, that whole situation happened before Riley was even there. Bru was suspended from being on campus way before Riley was hired.

I have a theory about USC’s opposition in this process. TOTALLY unfounded…just compiled tinfoil conjecture fwiw. Bru is a rare high level WR who was rubber stamped for USC since forever. Something went sideways immediately upon arrival. So he transferred to Texas and then returned out of residual loyalty. There was a load of skill position talent there under Helton and a load of rotten culture that wasted Bru’s development even before the alleged girlfriend incidents. That ship sailed but the think tank that remains envisions Bru developing in Knoxville at an epic level and after 1-2 (more likely one and done) seasons entering the NFL as a Vol. Just grates for them that they wasted a potential legacy and like so many academic kindergartners, they want to make it difficult. Not playing the long game if he does end up a star and recollects the reindeer games they pulled 2-3 of his years in their program. High road wins more often than not. Hope the light bulb powers up before the season.

This has everything to do with behind the $cenes power player$(Cough boosters cough)who are pulling strings in the USCAD, and are probably upset that Tennessee may get THE “return on their investment!”

Guys, we should all be veterans at this as we go through it every single year. He will miss the first game and be approved late week of week 2, just late enough to barely play and then start game 3. This is how it always goes unfortunately

To add to this...if Bru does develop here and heads to the nfl, it's MORE egg on USC's face, considering he would then join the line that has formed of players who have left there, and found a wonderful home in Knoxville. Guys that have had big time impacts on our program.
