A true freshman QB made his defense look like they didn’t belong. And it’s easy to pad stats when in most of those games they were up by large margins and could just pin there ears back and blitz all game.Gave up about 30 more yards passing per game (7.5 yards per quarter) in 2018 without Pruitt vs 2017 with Pruitt. If you wanna say they weren’t as good this past year as the year before, yeah, ok, I’m with you. But struggled or “fell off the face of the earth”? Lol, no.
Idk. I do know however that Lupoi looked like a deer in headlights in that last game.Pruitt was a great DC at Bama and did a great job when he was DB coach too. But he also had a lot working in his favor in 2017 compared to 2018. Bama had only 3 2017 defensive starters back for 2018. The entire 2017 starting secondary went to the NFL. The entire defensive staff except Tosh Lupoi had to be replaced after 2017. Tosh was promoted to DC and wasn't ready for it. Bama also had several injuries to 2018 defensive starters. To say the drop off in defensive performance was due mainly to Pruitt's departure is just silly.
Anybody out there that the staff feels could come in and contribute immediately, I want them. Anyone who could help us win. I don't want to take guys just to take guys, but if they can make us better, I want them.RB? No way
LB? Only if very talented and providing 2-3 years to play. Grad LB certainly not. Jaelen Phillips would be good if he's able to be healthy.
Only spots I would want as a grad (immediate) transfer are de/dt.
If you are talking about that true freshman QB TL you are probably talking about a generational QB that may very well end up being the best QB the game has ever seen at all levels.A true freshman QB made his defense look like they didn’t belong. RB and LB will be fine this year. However Pruitt and the staff NEED to get a few big time guys in the 2020 class. Missing out on To'oto'o is really going to hurt especially considering we lost Lakia Henry too. Hopefully they're able to get some studs in 2020 and maybe a couple of transfers. If not I think Florida, Bama, and Georgia will be too far ahead of us and there won't be enough progress on the field to draw the elite talent in that's needed to win the eastWe need to find a RB and LB in the transfer portal

Clemson's "true freshman" isn't your average newb. Ray Charles could've seen that.A true freshman QB made his defense look like they didn’t belong. And it’s easy to pad stats when in most of those games they were up by large margins and could just pin there ears back and blitz all game.
Peyton is his favorite and the kid is originally from KingsportTrevor Lawrence had the best film of any HS QB I've ever seen. Ridiculous arm for his age. And he seems to have proved this year he's not a complete idiot between the ears and can read defenses. I wanted him at UT more than I want an All Star Breakfast when I'm completely hammered. And if you knew me, you'd know how big of a deal that is.
If he stays injury free, kid is going to kill it in the NFL. Probably HOF if he doesn't run into some bad luck along the way. His natural talent is absolutely absurd. Just sucks he's in the wrong shade of orange. And he would've came here, from what I understand, if our program was even halfway competent at the time. Peyton was supposedly his favorite player growing up.

Alabama's defense isn't what it was under Pruitt. It won't be this year either. Conversely, Pruitt's Tennessee defense will be better this year and next, as we add talent. Talent is a pre-requisite, but coaching matters brother.
Swap Venerables and Lupoi, what then? I doubt seriously Saban was shedding any tears when Lupoi left.UA's defense was average by UA standards but had nothing to with the DC. Our defensive wows were masked by our offense putting up 50+ early in the season. But even in October most UA fans were starting to get concerned after the Arkansas game when they put up 31 but again the national media for the most ignored that because of our offense. A DC can only do so much but when you have to replace your top 6 DBS, injuries again at LB as well as our best CB and R Davis(preseason projected 1st rd pick) is now coming back because of poor play it does not matter who is calling those plays. It also does not help when the offense continues to score in under a minute on possession and forces the D right back out there. Would Pruitt have done a better job then Tosh, I think so, but in the end we were not good enough to beat CU plain and simple. We did not have the talent to match them across the board. Maybe against UGA and OU, two games we could have easily lost, Pruitt may have helped with a more comfortable margin of victory but no matter who our DC was I doubt we were going to finish any better then 14-1.
