Ones one parent, the other is the grandfather, 2 uncles, and father, who was prob NFL bound before his medical issues
While all fair, the recruiting sites haven't had any issues not ranking multiple legacies the number 1 overall recruit. I was just using LeBron as an example. Is Arch overhyped most definitely? Is he overrated? Probably. Could he end up being bust? Yes. I think the narrative of him being only ranked based off last name is exaggerated.
To play devil's advocate, it'd seem film and measurables.Absolutely nothing in his stats or high school film wants him being 1 overall. He hasn’t competed in camps. So wtf are we rating him off of other than his last name?

Read the scouting reports and it's not so much about production, but the typical scouting items about mechanics and the rest..."super quick throwing motion...big arm...making plays on the move...improvisation...mobile...makes all the throws...high spin rate...prototypical size...etc".
Ofc some question the competition. Others say his OL is really bad (it does seem so). Production too low. Hasn't improved.
That said, every college in the country wanted him. And I believe them moreso than the services. At the same time, iirc at least a few big coaches have said Nico or Dante or another guy was their #1.
Jmo but the truth is likely well in the middle. As with many things these days, room for nuance is lost in 128 character twitter posts and guys like Spoons Farrell clearly thirsting for some clout now that he's no longer with a company (same as Caleb Williams situation).
Just because you won't bet ON something doesn't mean you have to be AGAINST it. Manning may be a first rounder. He may not. He hasn't really shown anything to promise it, and he hasn't really shown anything to clinch his spot as # 1 recruit with a perfect recruit rating.I mean we’re in agreement with everything you’ve said here. Still kid will be surrounded by talent in college, he has the pedigree, and all the physical tools to be successful. Are you going to bet against a Manning?
Do I think Nico has proven more though? Absolutely. Does he deserve to be rated higher? Again I think so.
The Browns will probably still be picking 1st overall. Perhaps Haslam will pick him…Manning is a pretty safe bet to be a first round pick in a few years. They’re just not going to move him regardless. No matter what another QB does in camp, 7v7, on the field etc they’re not going to have anyone but Manning at the top.
Was listening to 247s new recruiting podcast today and Greg Biggins a national analyst said they were hesitant to push Nico to number 1 overall recruit bc they weren't sure he was going to play high school ball this year. Went on to say he has the highest ceiling and has a good chance on pushing to be number 1 with a solid season.
I'm not personally against Arch. Not in the slightest. Wish him the best (until Texas plays us). Hope he messes up Bammer and a few others. Why are so many dumping salt on Arch? It's Peyton's nephew. You know the greatest qb to ever run through the T. I get the fact that Arch hasn't camped much, played against weaker competition and all, but no need to wish the kid would fail. Now watch Peyton and Eli coach him up and have him ready to light up the record books by his sophomore season.
Btw I still think nico is the more talented qb with a higher ceiling.
GBO
Who is wishing him to fail? Everybody who has seen his highlights & stats knows he's a good QB. He just doesn't deserve a perfect grade and #1 overall ranking. It's fair to think that he would not be a 5* if it was another kid with the same skills and a different last name. Why are so many dumping salt on Arch? It's Peyton's nephew. I get what you're saying. Look over this thread and you'll see some wishing he flops. Me personally I hope he lights it up unless he plays us.Who is wishing him to fail? In the video above they are acting like people think he's either the best or not good at all, no middle ground. That's not the case. Everything I've heard is people saying he's good, just not perfect grade good. He should be absolutely unstoppable against the competition he faces. If his receivers are dropping balls, then he should still be unstoppable in the run game.
Bottom line is, he simply hasn't done enough to justify a perfect grade or the claims that he's the best overall player in the past 20+ years.
No other QB anywhere or from any time would be considered a 5* if they didn't camp and had the same pedestrian stats against inferior opponents as Manning.
If you (people in general) were ranking the top 5 QBs in this class, would you rank him #1 of the group? I wouldn't. Personally, I don't think he's top3 and he's certainly not a perfect grade athlete, regardless of last name.
