‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

"He just felt more comfortable at Warren,”
Iamaleava’s father Nic said. “We've always had a good relationship with coach Pearson and Nico is still tight with all of the players there.

"There was a time when we weren't sure if he would play this fall but he's excited and ready to go. Madden is excited too to play one last year with his older brother so it's a good thing right now."

Iamaleava remains on course to graduate early and will enroll at Tennessee in time for Spring Ball.

Smokescreen by AP. Truth is that Nico will be announcing soon that he is giving up football entirely. His heart is just not in it. Wants to give his full attention to making the Team USA Men's Volleyball team after high school. Backup plan appears to be traveling the beach volleyball circuit. The reported NIL deal is actually funded almost entirely by Mizuno.

The final nail in the coffin for Nico came after a conversation with Woody Quinn about the decision about volleyball vs football. Woody didn't want Nico to make the same mistake that he did. All hope is not lost though, hearing we will replace Nico with another son of Phil Simms. He has the arm strength of Rick Clausen, work ethic of Tyler Bray, and the football IQ of Eric Ainge.

I heard the exact same thing from my sources. Has to be true

Iamaleava is still #1 in my book. They aren't going to move Arch no matter how good Nico is. Arch could almost bum his senior season and they'd still justify ranking him #1 even though we all know it's strictly because of his name.

Were all the best teams in college football recruiting him strictly bc of his name? Or might he actually be good?

Genuinely curious what the rationale is for the “only bc of his name” crowd. And I’m not saying he should be this highest rated recruit whatever. But people talk like he sucks and I don’t get that considering the teams that were after him.

Manning is a pretty safe bet to be a first round pick in a few years. They’re just not going to move him regardless. No matter what another QB does in camp, 7v7, on the field etc they’re not going to have anyone but Manning at the top.

Lmao based on what?
I probably should’ve worded that differently. Manning is probably the safest bet out of the class at being drafted early in a few years.

You can argue with that but if you’re putting money on a kid out of this class to be a first rounder in four years, who is your money on?

On an OT, most of those concensus 5* pan out to be 1st round picks. Most 5* qb’s don’t pan out. Go back and look at the last 5 or years of the top qb’s coming out of high school. Most of them dont pan out. Manning’s high school stats are bad on every level. And it’s worse b/c the competition is bad too

I mean we’re in agreement with everything you’ve said here. Still kid will be surrounded by talent in college, he has the pedigree, and all the physical tools to be successful. Are you going to bet against a Manning?

Do I think Nico has proven more though? Absolutely. Does he deserve to be rated higher? Again I think so.

Most aren't saying he's bad. We're saying he's not the clear cut #1 player in the class. His name is the only reason he's #1. Personally, I think he's pretty good but definitely not a 5-star level recruit. Take away the Manning name and I think he's probably a 4-star level player tops. Some analysts have come out and said the same. He doesn't play well against good high school competition either. Even his overall stats are comparable to Guarantano's in high school yet media has pegged him as having a perfect score for a recruit.

Arch Manning being ranked #1 is pretty hilarious and just kind of proves that these recruiting services are inherently political in many ways. Take away his last name and he might not even be a 5-star.

I think this is a little exaggerated. If that were the case I think Lebron's son would he the number 1 recruit in basketball
