‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

I love this time of year… when we see our recruits slay their competition, our current team looks bigger/stronger/faster/more bought in, we lay waste to some hapless Sunbelt program…. Juuuust prior to coming back down to reality in late September lol.

??? Nico is clearly a man amongst boys out there I am genuinely curious to watch him against better talent
Yes and no.
California is a huge state with so many different classification systems. There is a lot of good football...not the average talent level of a Georgia or Florida per district. Still very good football out here, and a few super teams that can play with any other high school in America.

Nico has dominated the 7 on 7 play this whole summer.
He played in some high profile games as a junior as well. They're on Youtube. don't take my word for it. Look for yourself...

Seems pretty unlikely that a skinny freshman will be able to develop his body and learn the offense well enough to run it as fast as we do and process all of the options. His skill is amazing, but there is a bunch more to being effective than just having a good arm.
@SSVol and did you watch his game tonight?

Have you paid attention to him at all this off-season?

So he's skinny with a slow brain? How is he a 5 star again haha?

It's not JUST a good arm. Its a deadly accurate arm, attached to 6'6 dude that can launch from many platforms and kill you with his legs. And...maybe he can read a defense a little? Maybe he can understand down and distance ?

Oh I suppose the Hercules that is Bryce Young is where Nico needs to physically get to right :rolleyes::rolleyes:?

What's bad is that so many people liked your comment.
Some of yall are these old dudes that will slow play dating the younger lady just because she's young so you're uncertain. But you'll give all the trust to the older girl with her attitude and unchanging ways, because it's "safer".

There’s zero evidence to suggest he won’t become “effective”, in fact with 2 years of coaching from Heupel and Halzle there is more evidence that he will in fact continue to improve. There is undeniable potential for him to be a very good QB, Heupel & Halzle have proven they have the ability to develop QBs. Players are not stuck where they are; they practice, they develop, they improve from day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year; the only limiting factor is the desire to improve.

Also, it is interesting you brought up Peyton Manning… his freshman year, came into the first game as QB 3 (technically 3a w/ Brandon Stewart being 3b), he was behind Jerry Colquitt and Todd Helton. The plan was not for Peyton to play in that game but unfortunate injuries thrust him in to action early; in fact if I recall correctly I seem to recall an interview in which either Archie or Olivia stated they were told Peyton was to red shirt and spend time in a college weight training program before seeing the field. That is not an uncommon occurrence, even for top QB recruits. There is a big difference between high school and college.

I don’t think most recruits think they have to come in and be a superstar on day 1. Especially ones who are interested in the team, rather than self. Most want to come in and learn and prepare for when their number is called.
This would be fine, IF HE COULD SIT AND LEARN.
But we have a bad Joe Milton and a probable sophmore in Jackson. Milton has been "filled with potential" since his junior year in High School. That was 5 years ago.

Yes I'm very aware of the Peyton situation. What you all don't know is that he briefly considered transferring because he was better than any of the other QBs ,but Fulmer was stuck on his "stature".

Nobody said Nico needed to be a superstar right away. He WILL BE the best QB once he gets here. Stop overthinking stuff...
Why would you start an inferior QB? Dumb...
