‘23 CA QB Nicholaus Iamaleava (Tennessee)

Really excited for Nico. Use the practices for his development and who knows what happens going into next season. His potential is off the charts.

It's crazy how early he's getting into the program! He's just a much needed boost in talent and charisma for our QB room.

I want to see him and Hendon interacting on the sidelines. I think that's really cool.

When will this happen? Are EE's allowed to be on the bowl game sidelines?

Sorry if this has already been answered, but since he can practice with the team does that mean he can also play in the bowl game?

Since only something like 70 (?) can travel in uniform, I doubt the EEs will be on the sidelines. More than that number can travel but they have to sit in the stands.

I think I read that correctly, someone care to correct that if I’m mistaken

That’s a crazy rule! All of the players should be able to go and participate if they have went through all the work. What is the logic behind this?

The chance to acclimate to our program by participating in a handful of practices is beneficial. But a handful of practices and cast into a game would be tough.. I like the energy but even in most cases i.e. guys who show up in the fall.. they’ve had an entire fall camp and some summer work with an acclimation period mixed in before contact.

I believe @SweetasSoda is asking why the EE’s can’t just be on the sideline, not play

I believe travel squads are limited to 70 players and there's roughly 105 players on the team counting scholarship and walk-ons. There's a bunch of guys, who practice every week, that don't get to stand on the sidelines for away games.

Yeah I read it as them saying it was a crazy rule and asking why it was a rule in the first place

I’m not talking about the ones that just signed. I thought there were 85 on scholarship. Why do just 70 get to go?

Apologies but I believe the rule had something to do with a financial standpoint when it was initially instituted. Initially the idea was to help some schools who couldn’t necessarily afford to send a full roster while others had no trouble. Essentially to cut the “haves” and make it even with the “have nots” as it relates to the 85 cap. Today from a financial standpoint I don’t believe it to be a big deal for most schools

So why is it limited? If I put in all that time and effort, I would want to get to travel to other stadiums and be on the sideline. Is this about saving money?

That’s the only thing I could come up with. Need to do away with that especially for bowl games that’s supposed to be an award. Be a good award for EEs for graduating early and signing early.

Especially when you lump in tv dollars. I’d support the change and a change in the heisman voting. Why 700 + individuals need to vote on an award of this magnitude is ridiculous
