Cake is for kids at birthday parties.

I really only like really rich/dark chocolate pie and Key Lime in the summer.

Where would (the best) cheesecake fall, with some chocolate drizzle?

Just to be clear, I am on Team Pie only with the proviso that we are not limiting the discussion to sweet desert pies…..

Still the GREATEST unreleased song in History. (Paul McCartney lets him sing it live but will not allow it to be recorded due To his vegatinarian beliefs)

Do cobblers count? (I don't mean the cake-y things that some people call cobblers.) Legit peach and blackberry cobblers are hard to top.

Both are overrated, but generally I'll take cake over pie. Not a big fan of fruit pie, although I've had some that knocked my socks off. Other types of pie are good but don't excite me much. Angel food cake with a modest amount of frosting is always good. Strawberry shortcake is great. Coffee cake is great. Big fancy cakes with lots of frosting and weird textures are gross.

I'll take a pan of Ghiardeli mix brownies over any cake or pie I've had.

I made this cake Tuesday. Didn’t turn out a looker but it was good.

Devils food chocolate cake, double layer. With whipped cream cheese frosting in between, with a layer of candied pecans and a raspberry filling. Covered in whipped cream cheese frosting with a few candied pecans on top with a few fresh raspberries and a drizzle of raspberry the filling.

I’m not much on raspberry, but with cream cheese and chocolate it goes well.

That cake is gorgeous.

Thanks

Had a family get together and my mom loves pecans and raspberry so I figured that would be a great.

I didn’t have any bags so I used a sandwich baggie and cut the corner for piping. Worked fine for the frosting but not great for the raspberry filling couldn’t make the hole small enough.

My wife ordered me more bags so I’m fine now.

I love that British Bake Off Show. You could be a contender.

Apple stack cake. My mamaw used to make it. It did have apple butter in between.

side note, apple butter doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Soooo good
My grandpa had an orchard with about a dozen different apple trees. Most of the apples were not pretty or individually tasty. Grandma would take an assortment of apples and make her apple butter in a huge copper pot over an open fire pit. No recipe, just by taste. It can’t be replicated and I’ve never found anything as close. With her warm biscuits, still the best thing I have ever eaten. Thanks for renewing that memory.

Holston's in Sevierville has something called the Big Orange Soak Cake. There's not many better things on planet earth.

Either for me. Enjoy a good cheesecake or pecan pie. Work in a female dominated field and it seems like pie is the favorite as the girls are always taking about going home for cream pies.
