Cal, Auburn, and Vols all in NIT?

I think the NIT would be a great accomplishment for team and staff. Unlike many others I think this team, under these conditions would do a great job in the NIT and represent well. That is where I draw the line though. I do not want the CBI, the NIT is respectable...the CBI is laughable. If we cant play our way into the NIT and basically the top 100 of D-1 basketball then I think we call it a day on our season and start recruiting. Say yes to NIT...Say no to CBI..PLEASE!!!

The best two out of three in the Championship of the CBI is interesting

Counzo lost another yesterday. 16-11 , 6-8 conference. The dream NIT matchup still lives

Auburn is going to lose at least one more at TAMU, and even if they win the other 3, they'd have to go 2-1 in the SECT to finish at .500.

I still think Tennessee goes 16-14 and makes the NIT.[/QUOTE

Gotta love trying to win the nit and finishing 69th place. Who wouldn't want to play in that important tourney. I bet our guys will be pumped lol. Just turn it down and focus on next year.

It depends. I'm not saying it will, but it's far from as absolute as SD will have try to make you think. He tends to think that there is a set number and that he's always right.
Rocky Top Talk agrees with me. It will take 17 wins to get in. "RTT, "You never know the exact size of the NIT field, but last year 13 major conference teams got in with RPIs ranging from 49-88. For the Vols' RPI to finish in that window before we get to Nashville, RPI Forecast projects the Vols need to finish 17-13 (9-9), which means winning three of our last five games." One can be a tourney win in my opinion.

Do you think 17-14(win in SEC Tournament) would be good enough?

Guess I'm one of the few who doesn't want us to go to a meaningless tourney just to get beat by a lame mid major who is pumped to be playing and our guys bored just going through the motions with nothing to play for. Seeing how that happens to us every nit we play In.

You can't turn it down anymore there's an agreement if you get invited that you have to play

Great. Still doesn't mean it is 100% true. You can't seem to get that through your head can you? Last year has ZERO impact on what happens this year.

Unless Reese, Hubbs, and Mostella start playing better, we will not win three more games.

Ok,way to show your agenda.youre gonna be attacked I hope you know that.

With our schedule, it will be difficult for us to finish above .500 unless Hubbs, Reese, and Mostella start giving us some production in the next 6 games.

AU will not be above .500 and Cal is 16-11 with 4 games left. Cal could lose all 4 and 1 tourney game and still be .500. So they could be the only one of the three to make the NIT. I know they will not make the NIT at .500.

That's not an agenda, it's a simple statement that just so happens to be accurate, if you look at ours and Auburn's remaining schedule and think 17 wins is likely then that's your own fault.

But haven't other people trashed sd for having a set number of wins to get in but when you say it it's ok? Just how I percieve it.

There's not a set number, but at minimum Tennessee has to win 2 more to have a legit shot, and that's no guarantee the way they have been playing lately.

Not this team. They realize that the NIT is a springboard to future success in the NCAA tourney. Just ask South Carolina.

Yes, based on our strength of schedule. Texas A & M did not get in last year with 18 wins. Georgetown and West Virginia were the last two teams in with 17 wins. It's just simple statistics. There is a 99.5% confidence level that it will take 17 wins. As far as this being a minor tournament, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, and LSU were in last year but didn't bother to win. They let the Big 10 take the title.
