Cal @ Oregon

Amazingly great that Droski had to watch that game...

Also good for us that the Pac 10 seems to be a jumbled mess with no great teams.

USC, Oregon and Cal play Florida, Alabama and LSU.

Any way anyone sees them doing better than 1-2?
Maybe, but most likely not. Bama would beat all three of them. I'm still not convinced that Florida is that much better than everyone else. Call me crazy, but put the two teams on a neutral field, and I think Oregon could win 3 maybe 4 of those games. LSU has the talent... And they also have Chavis as their DC. They had the living daylights scared out of them by a team that's likely going to finish around 5th in the Pac-10.

No. As evidenced today, USC's loss to Washington was their typical inexplicable loss to a middle of the road Pac-10 team. They will still win the conference title outright, and beat Ohio State again in the Rose Bowl, but by a lot more this time. Oregon played awesome today, but played completely out of their minds. They are not that talented.

I don't get why you keep down playing Oregon's win. Oregon was prepared and came ready to play, Cal got it handed to them. I suppose by your logic if Oregon is not that talented then Cal has no talent. Oregon made the adjustments they had to make after the first game, may have not played well against Purdue but they still have the wins.

And USC might not have the Pac-10 easily, Barkley is not 100%, did not play the entire game on Saturday, and if he gets knocked out again, SC will have another poor loss because Corp won't lead them to any victory. There are a lot of possibilities of what could happen this year in this conference, so don't go handing the trophy over to the trojans just yet.

I guess all this Oregon talk will not be settled until 9/11/10. I find it amazing that people still say SEC is overrated when SEC has won 7 NC since 1992 and 4 out of the last 6 NC games.

With all that being said, Cal got their azz handed to them. Good game Ducks

How am I playing it down? Jeez, go back and actually read my posts. I said Oregon should expect a Holiday Bowl this season, that's 2nd in the Pac-10, and pretty darn good for a new head coach. Ask any sane Oregon fan and they will tell you, with expectations they came in with this year, that 2nd in the conference and a Holiday Bowl would be over-achieving.

Just got home. Face is sunburnt to all hell.

1. Lots of typical Pac-10 fans today... Homerism is expected. Walking around tailgates hearing stuff like "SEC is overrated." My response: "Yes, and yet still the best conference around."
2. I really, really hope Duck fans en masse don't start expecting a Rose Bowl now. Oregon played out of their mind. Had a good home field (my ears are still ringing -- a lot) and Cal couldn't have played worse... I'll call this one more of a Cal loss than an Oregon win. IMO Ducks should be happy with a Holiday Bowl appearance. They still have one of the most inexperienced o-lines in college ball.
3. All the Cal fans were exceptionally graceful. I didn't see one leave Autzen until after the game was over, they all congratulated the Duck fans around them. Very classy.

I read your posts the first time around, but the way you came off in your posts is more for cal and usc than oregon. Give them credit where it is owed instead of adding in buts and saying this wasn't a win for oregon...it was.

One of the most inexperienced O-lines, playing for one of the BEST O-line coaches in the nation - a coach that, quite simply, keeps getting it done - no matter what the preseason commentary has to say.

Milo, I don't know who you're talking to.
We've all known that there were serious questions in the trenches, but in spite of that I don't think any self respecting Duck fan believed in the run-up to the season that we would be lucky to make the Holiday Bowl. Most of us realize how far we have come as a program, and know that there's no reason we shouldn't be in the hunt for the Pac 10 championship year in and year out at this point.

I'm not saying we reload, ala USC, but we recruit well enough, and have a good enough staff, to keep things competitive.

also, I echo Wheaton's laughing in the general direction of droski. And he deserves nothing but ridicule because he's a s***t talking moron who can't back any of his drivel up.

yes i'm on suicide watch.

unbelievable. i know many here have rightly said cal always chokes and is overrated, but i'd like to think at least we have top-20 talent. to lose by 39 to an unranked opponent is truly unbelievable to me. no excuses whatsoever. any cracks or jokes are warrented. any comments by the oregon posters cannot be refuted. this sat will show if this cal team is truly a bag of dog crap.

and btw i still think ucla has no shot at winning the pac-10, but obviously i don't know much about football these days.

I think Florida and Alabama are solid top teams. LSU not so much.

How Oregon would fair in that group I believe depends on whether or not they can sustain the level of play they were on against Cal. If they can, I'd give them a shot against anyone.

I don't think that's true. Expectations going into the season were very high this year. We were top 10 in most polls pre-season. Got all kinds of press, SI cover, etc. Many Oregon fans thought this could be an NC contention year for the Ducks. Obviously, the opening game was a huge disappointment. Would love to have that game back now, even without Blount.

I'll stop with the cracks and jokes. :)

I don't think Cal is over-rated. I could be proven wrong during the next games but I think Oregon was a sleeping giant that just misfired unexpectedly at the beginning of the season. The way they played against Cal was what most expected based on how they finished last year.

Cal just needs a QB that can general a more consistent pass threat. Riley missed open receivers a number of times. I'm picking them to beat USC next week in a close one.

Just yanking your chain Droski. Can't really be mean to a west-coaster that lives within an hour of my sister.By the way,my neice, a UCLA grad, was just hired on staff as an MD at Ronald Reagan (Hospital) Medical Center age 29. Pretty proud of her and she's pretty excited. Just thought I'd share especially since she's had to pay (is paying) every penny herself.
