Cal to Arkansas

How is Stephens like Dooley? Dooley had a losing record as a head coach. Stephens, in her one year as a D1 coach, took a program to the tournament for the first time in over 25 years. She could turn out to be a bust, but she’s not remotely comparable to Dooley.
I think he’s referring to Stephen’s crutches, square toed shoes, brown belt, orange pants, and her hiring of Sunseri to run the defense.

Hurley would be an idiot to even consider going to UK.

UCONN right now is a better job and has them rolling.

Nate Oats I could I see leaving but even then, Bama has the pockets to keep him.

UK fans are so toxic and I'm not sure why any coach would leave a good situation to come here knowing the pressure cooker that exists here.

I suspect they will offer Nate Oats. If they can’t come to an agreement with him, then move to Chris Beard. I’m not sure their AD will have much say in who they hire given how the Caliperi era ended.

Kentucky fans seem to think they can land Hurley. He might use them for a raise, but he’s not leaving UCONN
Hurley isn’t leaving. They’ll throw the kitchen sink at Donovan, Drew, Oats, or Pearl. Also hearing Underwood may be in the mix.

Cal is supposedly taking a slight pay cut to make this move.

Allegedly really just wanted to leave UK for the right situation because the relationship with the administration and fanbase had just become untenable.
Which is exactly what’s going to happen with whoever they hire when they fail to make the sweet 16 in year 2 because the expectations from the fans are so out of wack

Yeah, this hire by DW looks weak, almost like the basketball version of Derick Dooley. I've always felt that if you don't have a top tier replacement, then why make a change
? It's not like the program was in the dumps or under investigation for some infraction--they just set high expectations that may be too hard to meet in just 3 or 4 years.

Not even close. Kim is an ascending young coach who has won prolifically throughout her career, while Dooley was a middling, mediocre coach who was nothing more than a safety pick who wouldn't get us in any more trouble. Completely apples and oranges.

I don't get the criticism of DW with this hire. It's not as if his track record here hasn't been excellent. How much different is this from Heupel, another young ascending coach with an exciting, progressive approach to the game?

Dan Hurley to Lexington is pretty interesting; I don't think it happens, but the prospect isn't unbelievably far-fetched. UConn is a better program than Kentucky right now by a fairly significant margin, credit to Dan for rebuilding Storrs, but Kentucky is the sport's premier legacy program and it's reasonable to wonder how UConn is going to fare in the future since the odds of them joining a major conference seem minute. UConn has performed amazingly well over the last 30 years, but what kind of future do Big East teams have when even the dregs of the SEC/Big Ten have significantly more cash to fund their programs?
