I watched a couple of Marshall games this year (Thank you ESPN+)
On defense, they generally full court pressed after a made basket. Players are only in for 4-5 minutes before 5 new players are substituted in.
On offense, the ball is constantly pushed upcourt. They would often pull up for a 3 on the break. They took a lot of 3's.
It made for entertaining and winning basketball at the Sun Belt level.
Imo, there would have to be an almost complete change, in the current LV roster, for that style of play to be effective in the SEC.
I copied a post I made, on this forum, after the Sun Belt championship game. It will give you some idea of how the game was played.
See below:
The Marshall- James Madison Sun Belt championship game was exciting. Here are just some of the incredible stats from that game.
Marshall took 99 field goal attempts of which 46 were 3's (James Madison only 53 fga's). Yet the game went into overtime. Marshall had 33 offensive rebounds. James Madison committed 39 turnovers !!

We have a high high standard here fo sho. And we should. But allowing CHW to go as long as she did, and giving Kellie 6 years w underperforming teams says that we're not trigger happy. Although to be fair, those 2 are beloved ex-players that may have gotten a little extra leash due to it.
So basically sounds like the Nash Phoenix Suns or Troy University women's team. I think it's the same style that Arkansas tries, but that would only work if you can rebound and 60% of your starting lineup isn't 5'7. I think the style can be effective in the SEC with the right players.I watched a couple of Marshall games this year (Thank you ESPN+)

Others have mentioned Saylor Poffenbarger (Arkansas), Talia Scott (Arkansas), Maddie Scherr (UK), Ajae Petty (UK) as some portal highlights. I'd also throw in Nyayongah Gony (MSST) and Teonni Key (UNC) as other players that fit the playing style. Striplin and Puckett are not ideal, but it can work as long as both of them aren't on the court at the same time. Even Darby to an extent if she shows she can run the floor (even if in short bursts). It sounds like our team will be a hybrid of Auburn on defense and Arkansas on offense. Both teams have struggled to win consistently in our league.
Are there any portal players you think could fit our new system?
The current players I like are Boyd, Cooper, Spear, Strickland, Wynn, Striplin, Hollingshead.
Hoping Coach can get a mobile post, stretch 4 and a floor general. We’ll need size to rebound in the league or we’ll get crushed.

I thought it was 6 scholarships unless Edie takes one. We know Tamari isn’t coming back. Not calling anyone a star as stars in coaching are made by players. If they can find talent and the right players to fit their system they will be successful. Players right now we have that could fit Kim's system are Wynn, Hollingshead, Cooper, Boyd, and Spear. Maybe Ace and Wells could be added as backups. I don't think Karoline, Sarah, or Tess fit it at all. I do look for all three to be on the team next season. Right now we have five scholarships to give and we need to use them the right way.
