California Lunacy Thread

I hope and pray the people of California can help themselves out of this. Their Government isn't going to help them. I feel bad for them. I hope they understand what has happened to them and they kick their nonsensical Govt out of office. I pray and hope they will. It is their only chance to survive this.

He didn't say "know." He said "think." He said "I think everybody did a great job" and I don't know exactly what he means by this. Based on how you changed his quote, you probably take this to mean "everybody who had a hand in anything ever did a great job" but he could just be saying responders did a great job. He clearly doesn't think insurance companies are great, so not everybody. The insurance comments are where I have a problem with his viewpoint.

Saying "I think [insert positive comment]." with insufficient information is not the same thing as crucifying people off insufficient information. You get that, right? Probably not.
Oh heyyy

Lol at “you changed his quote”

He thought everything had been great
-vs-
I think everybody did a great job

Apologies to the entire board for that ^ absolute butchering of Bill Burr’s words and sentiment.

And to be clear (I went back and re-listened so as to avoid further prosecution) he said -

“I think everybody did a great job, unlike the internet”

It’s his opinion that everybody did a great job, unlike the internet’s opinion.

You get that, right?

I bet it was a company based out of Ukraine.
I was just being sarcastic and now saw this..😂

The controversial art had been in storage near the Pacific Palisades home of Hunter’s Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris and is valued at “millions of dollars,” a source close to the Biden family said.

It’s the new “book deal” of money laundering.

Good read

Good read thanks.

Uh oh, the internet fire experts are butthurt about it.

It's a fkn funny clip and if you didn't say any of the things that he criticized, then you don't have to be butthurt.

You guys see a fact like that they ran out of water and automatically conclude "it was mismanaged" when you have no fkn idea what that actually means. What if they planned really well, but an excessively, and irregular long drought is the problem? You don't have these facts. You have one fact, and you run with it. I have no idea what their water reserve plan was, how it compares to what was sufficient in the past, if nature just said "F*** your plan," etc. Maybe the water was totally mismanaged, but I don't know that yet. All I know is that they ran out.

Bill Burr is smart because he understands he needs more information. Other people get off feeding their own egos by making a harsh judgement off a few facts.

The reservoirs were supposed to be full, and sat empty and dry for over a year. Many millions of dollars was taken from the fire dept budget to give to the homeless just in the last year, of 183 fire dept trucks and vehicles over 100 now sit on the maintenance lot in disrepair because they "cant afford to fix them" and as far as the drout goes...the 2 years prior to now were some of the wettest on record with incredible rainfall that caused devastating mudslides.

This is such an incredible fustercluck of mismanagement that it required an incredible level of ignorance, irresponsibility, and stupid Liberal politics such that it could likely only have ever happened in CA or NY. No other states really have totally inept Liberal morons at every single post at every level of government. Dozens of idiot politicians had to all be this damn stupid from the mayor to the fire chief to the Governor and everyone in between. By the way all those separate facts I stated in the 1st paragraph I learned from reading this thread or the associated articles, X posts etc. Bill Burr is a hilarious comedian, but what he said was really, really stupid. Read the articles and Xposts linked in this thread and you will understand why Huff. Just because he got lucky and his mansion wasnt 1 of the 12,000 homes and buildings completely destroyed doesnt mean it was managed well. Its criminal how poorly managed this situation was despite many warnings and cries for help from LAFD leading up to this disaster.

2% of the FD's budget was cut. Conservatives critical of a 2% cut are not conservatives.

What was cut? If the 2% was cut from personnel and training or equipment maintenance ect while other dollars were allocated to social issues and not the mission it's a big deal. Without seeing the whole budget your post is asinine.

LOL. He can criticize without knowing what was cut but I can't say a 2% cut isn't too much for conservatives?

Nobody was talking about FD budget allocation. It matters, but we don't know anything, so naturally no comment.

No, both of you are wrong.

I see that you are doubling down on asinine statements today.

Nah, a 2% cut is good. We can probably cut every program that exists by 2% and end up better off with all of them. What they do with the budget is the problem, not the 2% cut.

This is going to be fun to pull up every time you call me a lib and pretend to be for small government. Bro, you can't even endorse a 2% cut. LOL

In retrospect. do you think it was a good idea at all to cut any funding from the FD?

I do not have enough information. If you're telling me they were using the budget efficiently and that they still needed more money, then yeah, it was a bad idea. But IDK that stuff.

In the interest of having all the facts, in November LA city council voted to approve a $76m increase to the budget (basically 5x what the cut was). Funny that nobody's brought that up, right?

I do know that their $900m budget (Now $976M) is the 2nd largest in the US and there is another layer of protection with LA CO.'s fire department being funded to the tune of $1.4B.

It depends on what they cut before I can consider it good or not.
