California Lunacy Thread

There are ample opportunities out there to mock and deride DEI - this ain’t one of them.

DEI didn’t mismanage the forests.
DEI didn’t block water storage projects.

It was nothing more than good ole fashioned White Liberal busy bodies at work.
It absolutely does, It is called priorities. Spending vast amounts of money on DEI while neglecting common sense clearing of overgrowth.

Which states would handle fires being hit by 100 mph winds? None. There is tons to criticize Cali for. This isn't it.

This isn’t a new problem. What measures have they taken to prevent or effectively reduce these fires besides reducing fire fighting resources and implementing dei initiatives?

Oh come on. If they can't mock DEI they lose their fun
There are plenty of instances to rightfully challenge DEI. This isn’t one of them.

This reflexive urge to blame DEI for everything anytime it is tangentially present, is similar to the urge to reflexively blame Climate Change anytime there is bad weather.

Indeed. Certainly shows a glaring blind spot, or straight up incompetence, within the state legislature and local govts when it comes to adopting misguided, almost childlike silly policies, resulting in abject failures. They continue to focus on the wrong priorities.

And add 100 mph winds
These Santa Ana winds kick up all the time. I've been out there quite often and they're definitely something. As long as they've lived with these winds and been prone to wildfires, it's unconscionable to have ignored infrastructure and other measures to help mitigate a situation like this. But yeah, when winds hit these speeds, good luck getting ahead of that fire.

Happen all the time

This is a disaster

What?

Cali is just one giant policy failure. Removal of four dams, no new reservoirs built in years because hey, snail darter or whatever, no water in the fire hydrants and $17.6M budget cut for the LAFD (not to mention sending their equipment to Ukraine) but at least they got DEI wired…AND THAT is the important thing! Bully for you Gavin & Co! Bully for you.
Is there a link between dam removals on the California-Oregon border and fires in LA?

Yea that’s a wild ass idea.

What is true though is that California has flat out refused to allow the construction of new desalination plants to make use of that ocean full of water.

They have failed to really do anything useful. To hear talk of how little progressives running state and local government has done to clear brush and develop infrastructure to mitigate these catastrophes is damning.

They have done more damage to the environment by not taking care of the environment while they talk about the environment.

Even more stunning is they seem shocked. These are incompetent people.

Way to go Gavin!
