Im guessing someone has a room full of "Participation" trophies.
Some people around here think that SEC titles are great. Regular season SEC titles are the only thing Bruce has to hang his hat on.
Ask Pat if she would trade 25 conference titles for one national championship.
That reg season title means much more than the tourney. Many coaches at elite schools would prefer to lose early to rest and prepare. They don't lose on purpose, but they don't mind it as long as their seeding isn't going to suffer too much.

Exactly. It's much more of an accomplishment to go through a 12-18 game slate and be the top team, than to go on a 3 or 4 game winning streak and claim an SEC "title".
Which is exactly why I think that a regular season title should get you an automatic bid to the NCAA, instead of the conference tournament.
We're asking tough questions tonight, aren't we?

I figure if she's nice enough to answer stupid hypotheticals that maybe she's nice enough to answer a real one too.
Bragging over conference titles is the same as to how I always laugh at Braves fans for always bragging about their however many division titles they won in a row. In the grand scheme, it got you in the playoffs, but very few teams set that as their main goal in March.
What has that to do with this? That's meaningless. 'Course you knew that....kinda like the Haiti reference.
You said she was nice enough to answer stupid questions. I made a point. IMO, a classy person would at least give a reason for canceling the biggest rivalry in a sport, wouldn't you agree?
At least Cal will answer the question honestly, even if people don't like the answer.
Personally, if I was a Kentucky fan, I would have loved it. It meant he had his eye on the job he was brought in to do.

She has answered the question, just in case you might not have known. Her answer was something like (I don't know the exact quote) "...ask the cheating bozo at UConn...he knows." I think he probably does.
Your alma mater is not the same as the Braves.
And, you were the only one who mentioned "bragging over conference titles". That's not the same as "it means nothing".
You have the goalposts on a railcar running them everywhere.
When your goal is much bigger, and when conference titles are the standard, not the exception, then they mean nothing.
They mean nothing to Calipasto, and you.
"Hey, Grampa, tell me about the championship you won when you were a walk on basketball player at Kentucky before you graduated. I'll bet your coach thought that you guys did good."
"No. He said it meant nothing."
Calipari says SEC title means 'nothing? GoVolsXtra
To paraphrase, it means nothing to him but a seeding in the ncaa tourney. What a slap in the face to the entire conference. That being said, it really wonit mean anything when UK has it vacated in 5 or 6 years. Hope you are proud of your smileball of a coach Kentucky! Some of you might not like Bruce, but at least he isn't like this guy...
One of my favorite games of all time. It became patently obvious as that game wore on that the only two UK players who weren't scared to death of Ewing, Michael Graham, et al were freshmen, Winston Bennett and James Blackmon. Sam Bowie and Jim Master looked like they feared for their lives. So you think the twin towers, of 3 / 31 fame, are pumped about their conference title?
