Blasting him on Bham radio all day for his comment last night that having 4 first rounders and 5 overall pick was "the greatest day in UK basketball history"... I think not, what about you?

Then on the DP show he said to him emotionally that it was like winning the NC.... How does Cal know what that feels like....

I agree, having 5 guys drafted is probably not the greatest day in kentucky baskeball history. Probably gotta go with one of the national championships

He's just trying to be a salesman. Pearl would have said the same thing if he was the Kentucky coach in the same situation and everyone would be praising him.

He does not need to sell Kentucky basketball. It was a stupid comment. Only a guy like him could honestly believe that a program with multiple national titles has never seen a better day than the time he got the NBA to take every starter away after he lost with them in the Elite Eight. Calipari needs to at least pretend to respect their history unless he wants to routinely appear like a moron.

How good of a coach does that make you? 5 first rounders and didn't win jack!

Not very good considering the team that beat those 5 first rounders had 1 second rounder and a BACKUP point guard starting.

Also consider, at Memphis he had 2 lottery picks in 2005-2006. In 2008, #1 pick, another first rounder, and high second rounder (and 1st team All American). Still no NC. In last 5 years, Cal has had incredible talent. Must just all be bad free throw, I mean luck.

Cal is attempting to convince his followers that the number of top NBA draft picks is more important than championships just like monte's kid sold recruiting rankings as being better than ACTUALLY winning games.

Yet, many still believe...???

No. It was a stupid comment regardless of the coach. UK fans along with players that were part of the banners hanging in Rupp should be very disappointed.

Cal bascially said, I had an NBA team that couldn't get past the elite 8 round. But hey - This is the greatest day in Kentucky basketball history.

I'm sure Pitino and Tubby would oblige in recalling the best days in UK basketball was back when they were cutting down championship nets.

In football and in year one, it is. Would you say losing to Louisiana-Monroe was more important to Alabama's future than the #1 class they signed right after that?

What ?

Not the point. Win some games and keep your mouth shut until you do.

Would you say running your mouth incessantly, disparaging anyone and anything you can to make yourself look better, beating the spread and claiming some kind of victory, then bolting for another gig was better for Tennessee's future ?????

Yeah Calipari is getting plenty of heat for it, dont worry. It's a joke to say that it was the biggest night in UK history.

But, hopefully he'll learn from this mistake.

You said he was claiming that recruiting rankings are "better" (more important) than wins on the field. In year one, they pretty much are...though I'd say classes instead of rankings.
