I may be wrong here, but I just don't remember Peppers being awesome at bball.

I may be wrong here but your post said 2 sport athletes in college weren't good in either one. He was a beast in football and a decent BB player.

Nice try - I said they're usually not AWESOME in either one. Read again.

Matt Jones also disagrees

Matt Jones was overrated as a QB, and he flamed out as a WR in the NFL. Was a limited role player on Ark's bball team....averaged about 5 pts a game if I remember correctly. So Matt is wrong to disagree about his own legacy.

What about Ron Widby. 3 sport star at UT in the 60's. Played football, basketball and baseball. Played pro football and baseball. I also believe he was the first UT basketball player to score 50 points in a game. If memory serves me correctly he scored 50 in a game against LSU while Pistl Pete scored 50 for LSU and we lost by one. I am getting older and have my senior moments so forgive me if I am a little off on this.

Sorry I was a little off. He actually lettered in 4 sports at UT. He was also a scratch golfer. He was all American in football for two years and all American in basketball. Played pro basketball for one year with the Bulls and pro football for 6 years with the cowboys. I cannot think of one other athelete that has been as talented in as many sports.

Also BoJackson was pretty good at two sports.

does the basketball team really need a 6'6 power forward? I would rather him worry about TE.

Honestly I see no point in it besides to keep him in shape. I don't see him walking in and beating out our other posts and were rather deep at that position. If he could play PG, then maybe.

Fine then we will use AWESOME. He was AWESOME in football and good at BB. My point was you said either and Peppers may not have been AWESOME at both but he was AWESOME at one.

You said are not awesome at either one. Peppers was obviously better at football and one of the top players in the country. He also scored 7 pts 4 rb as a soph for a unc final four team in 2000, not bad. Although it is rare to play two sports, if they do they usually do stand out in one of them. The real rarity is Bo Jackson, being all world in both. You could have a pretty long list of two sport that excelled at one the sports.

Hey from your earlier responses to my post our acls probably have a lot to do with our take on that. I am with your boat. How is your knee compared to prior your tearing broseph? What am I looking at? PreOP therapy is giving me some ideas whats down the pike.

It really depends on the severity of the tear and if their is more damage than just the ACL. If it is just the ACL, then you should be able to get back to "normal" in 6-8 months with proper rehab. If there is more damage(meniscus, cartilage, bone, etc.) then it can slow things down with the amount of scar tissue from the surgery, and extra pain during the rehab. I do not use the word pain loosely. If you have a good therapist, they will put you through some pain, but this is a good thing.

My personal experience is a little outside the norm. I shattered one of the condyles(end of the femur) along with the ACL tear, so I had 5 pins in my leg which substantially slowed down the rehab. The main thing I will tell you though is to do exactly what they say to do, regardless of how tedious it may seem.

Charlie Ward won the Heisman trophy and played 11 years in the NBA. Tony Gonzalez was a good college basketball player and has had a pretty impressive NFL career.

Tod Helton picked the correct sport.
Holloway would also disagree..............

I'm curious if it is Dooleys decision because Spurrier strikes me as an "old School" kind of guy but Horne got Ellington pretty easy. I think if I remember correctly, they let him stay in Columbia while the team was in Orlando for their bowl game, flew him out there alone to play, flew him back soon after the game was over so he only missed like one game during the whole thing. I'd love to find a gem like that. Someone that could be a beast in the paint and be a walk-on. Pretty impressive stuff!

If it was any other position besides post I could see it but I really dont see the point in it. Unless I'm really underestimating Clears bball skills.

I see I have been doing double and triple what they say and therapist says because of my condition physically I can handle it. Just anxious to get into surgery and start over again. I appreciate the information. Your injury sounds like it was horrific. I tore meniscus and complete ACL tear. Surgeon says if I do all they say I can be back to basketball in 6-7 months. I joked I don't know if I will want to. I make stick to just 5ks and half marathons instead.
