Both guys will be playing next year. Probably happens all the time in Bama land, you just don't hear about it.

Two coaches fired for cheating; players out of control. Bama is a mess.

Can some of our lawyers enlightens us...Is this a federal violation as well? I take no joy in this no matter who the kid plays for but possession of a stolen firearm is big!

From Google.

Louisiana RS 14:69.1. Illegal possession of stolen firearms

A.(1) Illegal possession of stolen firearms is the intentional possessing, procuring, receiving, or concealing of a firearm which has been the subject of any form of misappropriation.

(2) It shall be an affirmative defense to a prosecution for a violation of this Section that the offender had no knowledge that the firearm was the subject of any form of misappropriation.

(3) It shall be an affirmative defense to a prosecution for a violation of this Section that the alleged offender has or had possession of the firearm pursuant to his regular course of business, is in possession of a valid federal firearms license, is routinely in the possession of firearms for sale, pawn, lease, rent, repair, modification, or other legitimate acts as part of his normal scope of business operations, and is enforcing a privilege pursuant to R.S. 9:4502.

B. Whoever commits the crime of illegal possession of firearms shall be punished as follows:

(1) For a first offense, the penalty shall be imprisonment, with or without hard labor, for not less than one year nor more than five years.

(2) For second and subsequent offenses, the penalty shall be imprisonment, with or without hard labor, for not less than two years nor more than ten years.

Acts 2000, 1st Ex. Sess., No. 116, §1; Acts 2001, No. 403, §1, eff. June 15, 2001; Acts 2014, No. 141, §1.

If Robinson is a first offender, he can enter a plea under Article 893 of the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure. Once he completes his probation and is eligible, his attorney will petition for an expungement. There will be no felony on his record and no criminal conviction.

If he is a first offender and the DA accepts the plea, Robinson will be fined and possibly be required to complete community service and/or counseling. Whether or not he is suspended or dismissed is up to Saban. Bama needs him to play, and a good attorney will likely wipe his legal slate clean, so...

We all know you can't just replace the left tackle and get the same results as you were before.

The question isn't what time he will get (or lack of)...

the question is what will saban do.

to both or neither or either.

the media and talent will determine this.

As long as he gets rid of the felony charge, Robinson won't miss any time. If the felony charge is pending, can he even get back into school? Saban will only do something if his hand is forced. I frankly don't care. I think guns and drugs are overregulated in the United States. Gambling and prostitution as well.

Assuming the DA agrees, Robinson can enter a no contest plea, and the plea will be held in abeyance until he complies with the conditions stipulated. He will not have a felony conviction on his record, so most likely, it will be Saban's call.

Of course, if the Louisiana DA is a diehard LSU fan, he doesn't have to accept the plea. :)

At least he won't have to see Vareen anymore. Corey at his lunch last year, and you could tell Robinson was frustrated.

I came to post this same thing LOL! Probably a great day for Cam Robinson ... at least he won't have to get abused by CV again. LOL.

But, on a more serious note ... read no orange glasses. Count me in crowd that sees this as a terrible situation that happened to a young man. Yes, I know he apparently "possessed a stolen gun". But, as far as I can tell, he did absolutely NOTHING with this gun that would threaten anyone whatsoever. Did he KNOW that this particular gun was stolen before he bought it? No, probably. If it weren't stolen, does that make the weapon somehow more dangerous to the citizenry? Not as far as my knowledge of weapons goes.

Remember, we live in the greatest nation in the world (IMO). A nation built on founding principles unlike ANYTHING ever seen on a national scale anywhere in human history. One of those great and rare principles is the freedom of individual citizens to bear arms for self protection against crime, as well as resistance to tyranny (God forbid).

If Cam Robinson has shown himself to be a stable and faithful citizen and feels the need to own and posses a weapon ... Then More Power to Him IMO. AFAIK, he's never acted in a felonious or mentally unstable manner (outside committing to Bama). Therefore, carry on young man.

I know that he should have been aware of the new regulations that are being hung on the 2nd amendment. But, I also believe that probably 95%+ of college students nationwide have no idea about the various local laws etc.

I'm not against Cam Robinson here unless he participated in theft of said weapon or knew that it had been stolen when he bought it. If he was not aware, then he s no different than anyone buying an iPod at a Pawn Shop IMO. I'm not against him for not registering his 2nd amendment rights with the State in any way. I'm not against the NY Giants Wide Reciever (except for some stupidity in weapons handling) and I'm still not against Tyler Smith for having protection in his car. Not an ounce.

God Bless America and Go Vols.

I think Marcus Spears said it best on finebaum today. Robinson is most likely a good kid that went home and some of his old "buddies" wanted to hang out like they used to and got him into trouble. Robinson probably felt pressure to hang with him because he didn't want make his old friends feel like he was above them now or better than them in a way. In turn it will cost him millions. I believe Saban will and probably should give him a second chance but he has to be more careful of who he hangs with.

The kid's obviously a stud, and I'm sure Saban wants him. But at the end of the day will it really affect Bama's W-L record by years end? It's not like they are without a log jam or 4* and 5* players behind him.

That is horrible. Regardless of the team it's sad when something like this happens to a young man.

Hopefully he rebounds.

What's horrible is having the gall to be that stupid when you're practically guaranteed millions next year in the draft. Pure ignorance.

That's a ton of speculation

My husband knows Cams dad and said he's not a good guy at all. I'm not saying Cam is the same, but considering the circumstances he's put himself in I'm also not going to call him " a good kid".
