Cam Robinson/Hootie Jones arrested for Bama

I came to post this same thing LOL! Probably a great day for Cam Robinson ... at least he won't have to get abused by CV again. LOL.

But, on a more serious note ... read no orange glasses. Count me in crowd that sees this as a terrible situation that happened to a young man. Yes, I know he apparently "possessed a stolen gun". But, as far as I can tell, he did absolutely NOTHING with this gun that would threaten anyone whatsoever. Did he KNOW that this particular gun was stolen before he bought it? No, probably. If it weren't stolen, does that make the weapon somehow more dangerous to the citizenry? Not as far as my knowledge of weapons goes.

Remember, we live in the greatest nation in the world (IMO). A nation built on founding principles unlike ANYTHING ever seen on a national scale anywhere in human history. One of those great and rare principles is the freedom of individual citizens to bear arms for self protection against crime, as well as resistance to tyranny (God forbid).

If Cam Robinson has shown himself to be a stable and faithful citizen and feels the need to own and posses a weapon ... Then More Power to Him IMO. AFAIK, he's never acted in a felonious or mentally unstable manner (outside committing to Bama). Therefore, carry on young man.

I know that he should have been aware of the new regulations that are being hung on the 2nd amendment. But, I also believe that probably 95%+ of college students nationwide have no idea about the various local laws etc.

I'm not against Cam Robinson here unless he participated in theft of said weapon or knew that it had been stolen when he bought it. If he was not aware, then he s no different than anyone buying an iPod at a Pawn Shop IMO. I'm not against him for not registering his 2nd amendment rights with the State in any way. I'm not against the NY Giants Wide Reciever (except for some stupidity in weapons handling) and I'm still not against Tyler Smith for having protection in his car. Not an ounce.

God Bless America and Go Vols.

Outstanding post my friend, and 100 percent correct. If Cam Didn't steal this firearm then I feel very sorry for him and hope he can still have a great life after all is said and done.

No need to worry about Cam Robinson. Saban told the media that he's "a little disappointed that better choices and decisions weren't made" and that the matter will be handled "internally" at Alabama after the "facts" are gathered.

Bama's season opener is USC. It's one of the premiere weekend games, nationally televised from Jerry World. Saban wants to beat SC. Kiff really, really wants to beat SC. Anybody think Cam won't play?

What a joke. The NCAA will go ahead and investigate UT for the Title IX lawsuit in retaliation for all of Bama's offseason inconveniences.

"Is a guy better off with us in our structure ... or are we better off throwing him out with the bath water?"

The groundwork has been laid.

If this guy was'n't a football player for Alabama and it was still his first offense do you think he would still get the felony dropped?

You feel sorry for him? Really? I am all in for the right to bear arms but that doesn't mean I can throw judgement out the window and not think about where the gun that I am carrying came from. That goes for anybody. If you are going carry a gun on you, know what you are carrying.

If a "friend" sold him the weapon and he mistakenly trusted the seller, then yes, that sucks for him.

If he was the one that stole it, then all bets are off and he needs jail time. My post was speculation that he didn't steal it and simply trusted the wrong person.

I had two friends, who coach football, that went to hear Saban speak at a coaches clinic. He said that when something happens at Bama the police call him, and he deals with issue internally:naughty:. Basically he decides the punishment. I'm sure he puts a lot of thought into these decisions, like how talented the player is, what law was broken, how talented the player is. where the crime took place, how talented the player is. The problem with the recent case, as you all know, is that it happened in Louisiana. If this happened in Bayou La Batre or somewhere else in Gumpland we would've never heard about it.

I don't know this kid's background or level of common sense, but when I was growing up, it wasn't hard to discern which of my friends it would be safe to buy handguns from. I'm not saying that he should get tossed in prison for making a dumb decision of that sort. I'm just saying that I think he had a good idea what he was getting into, based on who he may have bought it from, if that's how he acquired the gun. Do you agree?

Someone will take the fall for him. They might do it out of loyalty or because some booster will pay them handsomely to spend some jail time.

Seconded.

KNOE in Monroe is reporting that the DA has declined prosecution and all charges will be dropped.

Then who was in possession of the drugs and illegal firearms? Seems a little off that the charges were dropped totally and no prosecution at all. Was there an issue of LA botching the arrests?
