Making a threat in such an anonymous way is the epitome of cowardice. Though doubtful, I sincerely hope they find his identity then hang him/her by their balls. Oops I forgot he probably doesn't have any. :good!:

There's moron's in every fan base. I witnessed a "Vol fan" Saturday night after the game who was obviously intoxicated and was way too young....scream profanity and gave the middle finger to a very fine, nice Vandy family with two young daughters sitting behind me all game....I wished I had been close enough to lay the wood to him myself...the Vandy man was trying to defend his daughters and shield them from this disgusting Vol...I was SO EMBARRASSED at that point and apologized profusing for this moron...He handled the win with grace and dignity....

(1) Did anyone, prior to Coach Jones, publicly disclose this supposed death threat? Have the police confirmed it?

(2) If not, what's the point in a coach going public with such a claim? What purpose does it serve? Does it help the investigation?

There is a tremendous amount on unnecessary emotion in this thread. Has this been verified by anyone in authority. Has anyone with direct connection to the team come forward with information substantiating this instance. I am sure if this could be documented the press and ESPN would be all over it. If it is true it could also be a person which is a fan from another school trying to see what negative impact he can impute on our program. I personal would like to hear some sore of verification that the threat did actually occur and by who before I become overly concerned. .

No vol fan would do this even as dumb as some are, it is either a fan from another team ie Vandy trying to embarrass us even further or was a hoax to begin with, I am sorry but I smell a rat and call bs.

I'm going to assume it's true. But I fail to see what good it does the program, or the student, for a coach to blurt out, without being asked, that we have fans threatening to kill players.

I didn't hear his press conference, but did someone else ask him about it, and maybe that's why he said it?

The sad thing is we all can probably agree the idiot fan that did that. Is probably on this site. Look I understand being frustrated. I was pissed about losing to vandy. But I would assume most will agree that Cam wasn't the reason we lost. So no one should threaten him. He is probably our only bright spot on defense going forward. However we do have young star in Vereen and we get maggitt back next year.

You should never threaten anyone. These kids are playing a game and giving their all. We are atill shaking off the curses we have had. Things will get better. I believe we finally have the right head coach. Not sold yet on coordinators. But give him to get top players and let current players settle into the system. In 2-3 years we should be competing for east!

Phone calls can be traced and if a person is identified, he/she faces jail time. I hope this person is found and the appropriated action is taken.
