This guy was so well beloved while here at UT and he was heralded as a leader.

It saddened me to hear of the alledged imcident months ago and it saddens me to hear his response. He doesn't seem to take any responsibility for what happened nor feel the need to clarify his side of the incident. He just sounds out of touch.

I agree, he doesn't belong back in the league. He needs some help.

Battery, in most states, is any unwanted touching. Misdemeanor battery or simple battery (which is what he was charged with) is unwanted touching that does NOT cause serious injury.

Y'all act like you never pushed someone off of you that got in your face.
This is more than a case of pushing someone.

According to the affidavit, Sutton and a woman got into an argument at about 4:45 a.m. on March 7. The address where the incident took place is redacted from the document due to Marsy’s Law, but the sheriff’s office has previously said the incident occurred at Sutton’s home in Lutz.

Sutton and the woman, 35, have been dating for about seven years and have three children in common, according to the affidavit. The Tampa Bay Times is not naming the woman in this story because authorities say she is a domestic violence victim.

During the argument, Sutton picked up the woman and slammed her into a wall, then bit her on the neck, leaving a quarter-sized abrasion that bled, the affidavit states. Sutton then grabbed the woman by the face and neck and choked her, causing her to briefly lose consciousness, according to the affidavit.

**Note** 3rd degree felony

Men continue to be stupid. Thisis the age of MeToo, joining forces with the preexisting anti-male bias of society, law enforcement, and court bias against men. If a man has an iota of sense, the first red flag sign of drama-istism, accussie-tis, etc, get up, get out, and don't look back. All she has to do is say you did. Even if video footage, eyewitnesses, and credit card receipts shows you were 2K miles away, the man is guilty by default. If you lose your temper and so much as refer to her as anything other than "infallible goddess," you're a possessed demon who needs to be exorcised, then jailed for life. But if men are going to remain too stupid to understand such realities, you deserve to get what you hang around for. As for Sutton, whatever the real story, hate to say it, but he should have run long before this mess, when the running was good.

That's her testimony. He was not charged with felony battery. That tells me the evidence doesn't support that charge (not saying it did or didn't happen that way). My comment is just a simple statement about how quick people are to judge when they truly don't know the truth.

I'm not taking any sides in this and don't advocate for domestic violence, but this, like many domestics, becomes a he said/she said thing and I choose to be an objective observer.

You’re right, she just bit and choked herself out.
Were you there? Did you see it happen? I'm not saying he did or didn't do it. I'm just saying innocent until proven guilty. People lie sometimes. Ask AJ Johnson. You probably assumed he was guilty too though...

LoL. Why run if Innocent?
I think the “on the run” storyline was a little overblown. Sutton has a place in FL and a place in Detroit. After the blowup with his girlfriend in FL, he left for Detroit. I think he stayed there while his lawyer worked out an agreement for him to return and face the reduced charges. Not defending strangling your girlfriend and his statement is narcissistic, but it may be good to wait for the court to sort out the facts.

I’m a victim of domestic violence myself. I’ve been both bitten and strangled until I passed out. If he were innocent, he wouldn’t have fled the scene and been on the run. Kick rocks.
