Campus Police and KPD plans to silence Neyland Rowdys

If they are being abusive and fighting or loosing control of bodily functions, then obviously they need to be escorted out. But sounds like the majority of people here are annoyed by F-bombs, loud talking, being picked on for wearing camouflage and people not sitting down. None of those instances need to involve the cops, imo.

You have just stirred a hornet's nest with that comment. Maybe my parents were just strange people, but they never brought me to situations like Neyland or any other sporting event until I was old enough. The only exception to that was an EWF/Ramsey Lewis/Emotions concert when I was about 4-5 years old. Outside of that, they didn't put me in those environments because I suppose they new that alcohol, drugs and vulgarities were going to be present. Therefore, they didn't have to worry about ear muffing me whenever an F-bomb dropped or have to explain to me why the lady in front of me is peeing on herself.

Relax

Being picked on no, I sat there with a drunk pos saying f@&$:mad:g camo over and over for 3 quarters. I didn't go get kpd and when he finally grabbed my jacket and said "who the f@&k wears this s@&t in here" well like my post before said I had the pos by the throat before I realized what I was doing. I have a 9 year old daughter who wants to go to a tennessee ballgame but I am reserved to take her just because of morons I just talked about.

Don't forget Bama Mom ...

I'm glad I saw that, is just so funny. If the threat of being removed for being loud for our D. Then too bad, let's get so loud it matters. I plan on having my twin 2 yr olds at the WCU game, so use up all the Fbombs for OU I will be there without the little ones. But if my neighbor says stop the vulgar rants then I've got to let you know I've got his back. Two drunk TN fans tried to ruin the time I had with my 6 yr old daughter and wife at an away game, it was bad enough we lost but those two showed no class. I get it you get mad and you want to throw a cussing fit, this is not your back yard this is a public place, so get it together. But for real, we gotta get loud for the sooner game. Standing on your feet while stomping them ,yelling very loud the whole time they have the ball.

YAWN.

They put out this press release every season.

They can't arrest us all.

You have some here that wish they could arrest all of the drunks, though. That is the issue I have.

Like going to a hockey game and being appalled at the fighting or a rasslin' match and being appalled at the people in the stands.

It's a college football game, not a Scripps-Howard spelling bee.

We have the softest fanbase I've ever seen. Kids are going to see drinking and hear cuss words eventually. If you don't want them to experience it at a ballgame, then don't bring them. Yelling, cussing at and trying to fight opposing fans is one thing. On the other hand, yelling that an official is a sorry SOB is not worthy of crying to security about. We have too many who expect everyone else to act like we're at a co-ed, church league softball game.

I haven't really seen too many people that get upset just because someone is loud every once in a while. Some cussing is to be expected but when you're the only person standing up and every other word out of your mouth is a cuss word it gets a little old.I would not call security but it would ruin the experience and I think that is the point.People pay good money to see these games only to have it ruined by someone who cant hold their liquor.Thats my opinion anyway

KPD and Campus Police plan to haul away loud and rowdy drunks at the game. thus reducing the rowdy raunchy atmosphere that neyland used to be known for.

this is extremely sad times. as society turns to fascist.

UT Cracking Down on Drunk Fans This Season - WDEF News 12

I DON'T CARE THAT IT SAYS DRUNK FANS WE ALL KNOW THEY DO IT TO LOUD PASSIONATE FANS AS WELL. We want to INTIMIDATE NOT PUSSIFI NEYLAND!!!! Make visiting teams and fans fear coming here. other wise tear it down and build a ballet center.

Fascist.. exactly.

The last game I went to was Georgia 08' or 07', and I swore I would never go back.

I saw kids being slammed to the steps in Neyland, and to the sidewalk on Cumberland for the "appearance of being drunk." The cops are out of control. Both staties and city police.

Actually foul language is against the rules. So, the play devil's advocate, if a fan is prone to obscene outbursts then maybe they they should stay home and not the kids?

Side note- do fans that yell at refs think the refs can hear them?

Rules:

UT and SEC Fan Code of Conduct

In the spirit of sportsmanship, fans shall:

Conduct themselves in a manner that represents UT, the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA with honor, dignity and respect.

Demonstrate qualities of civility and sportsmanship at all times.

Not use vulgar, abusive, racist, sexist, demeaning, or intimidating language at any time.

Support the players, coaches and officials in a positive manner.

Treat the visiting team, coaches and fans with courtesy and respect at all times.

Not engage in cheers that are vulgar, crass or demeaning.

Refrain from throwing objects onto the floor for any reason.

Not become inebriated or belligerent.

Refrain from entering playing and team areas at any time, including the game.

Be a positive role model for those around you by treating others with courtesy and respect!

I guess there are those with a Pollyanna attitude that think they won't hear anything. But I think all most people are after is to have a good time watching the game without the dude beside them launching f-bombs and stumbling into them.

Not sure why the behavior for fans at a college game should be any different than at a High School game. If your drunk and making an a** out of yourself, you should be asked to leave. If your sober or drunk and being abusive and over the top with your language, you should be asked to leave. You paid for your seat, but so did everybody else. It's nobodies job to listen to drunk jacka** while your trying to cheer for your team. Stand up. Cheer. Get as loud as you can. Scream rocky Top all night long. Even yell "Whooo!" But respect the game. Respect the other fans

Embarking on that fine line which distinguishes the defying of authority from the questioning of authority is a tricky trail to navigate. The former needs to be avoided because it spawns a wide array of societal ills. The latter, though, is essential to the preservation of everything we hold dear as Americans. This thread tips heavily in the direction of questioning authority. I view that as a healthy thing. Please proceed.

I have no problem with this . Each year there is someone to drunk to walk the steps from from there seat or face plant down the stairs . Its one thing to be rowdy but another thing to be a loud rude drunk that dont know when to set down and shut up .

No. We have a fan base who say stupid crap like "don't bring them". If you want to get your stupid on, go to Bristol. If you want to have a good time, whether you are a local, out of state, or the opposing teams fans, you should be able to come to UT. "Kids are going to see drinking and hear cuss words eventually." Yeah, and they are gonna have sex too, but I don't want them to see that at a football game either.
You guys keep this up and we'll be Florida.

That's fine people bring their kids but my complaint, make them sit down instead of climbing all over the seats, running back and forth, and the parents are constantly up & down, back and forth to the restrooms with them.. It sure doesn't make for a good experience for the parents as they don't get to watch much of the game. If there's a kid sitting around us I'll cuss and but under my breath.. I'm sure said children see and hear more at home... You can't control over 100,000 people because youngsters and drunks are amongst the bunch... It's college football!!

Making visiting fans fear coming to Knoxville is a good thing????? You want to see Tennessee fans behave like Florida Gator fans??

I hope that most Vol fans are welcoming and courteous to visiting fans. As a matter of fact, I have spoken with many opponent fans who have been to a game at Neyland and they spoke highly of the Vol fan base.

That is what coming to a game at Neyland should be all about. Opposing fans spending $$$ at local hotels. restaurants, bars, etc. and going back with a favorable impression of their visit to Knoxville.

Maybe I can now take my grandchildren to the ball games and not have to explain what a lot of the words which are yelled mean.

It's called the real world man. Sorry to inform you, not everyone is nice, courteous and well behaved. The sooner all of us learn that the better. Not everyone will get a trophy, some of us will lose the game and be booed, name-called etc.....

All you have to say is look.....see how that man/woman is behaving, now don't grow up to be or act like that. That's basically it, unless someone directs language or behavior towards you, there's no reason to get on your high horse with someone who came to the game to yell their head off for the Vols. Goodness this Politically Correct wuss country is going to the dogs man. I hope they don't start a cussing chant against ole bob stoops where half the stadium is yelling a cuss word, you might have to take the kids home at once for fear of them learning a curse word.

C'MON MAN!!!!
