Can anyone name a more inept athletic department considering the resources.

there is nothing logical about reaching out to another coach while you have one currently employed

Not saying you're wrong in this scenario. But it depends on the person's logic. If everyone shared the same logic, we wouldn't have Democrats and Republicans. Or McDonalds and Burger King. Or Pepsi and Coke. Or... religion and atheists. We'd only have 1 if everyone shared the same logic and view. To each their own.

To you, that wouldn't be logical. To someone else, it may be. Ethical... that's another question.

Logic, it's like playoffs, nobody's talking about playoffs. There is no logic in some of these poster's eyes only pearl and an AD who let their man crush get away. Pathetic

And I thought I was angry all the time...

I wanted Pearl here because I know he can win. And yeah, I did have an attachment. You don't see me whining that he went to Auburn though. I just want to beat Iowa, Mass, Duke etc. And if we get knocked out by Iowa or Mass, I still want a new coach. I'm just not sure who. If I could snap my fingers and make Gregg Marshall our coach, I'd gladly do so and Martin would be gone tomorrow. I want Tennessee to win. I don't see what's wrong with thinking the coach isn't very good and that Tennessee could find a better coach. Martin has proven nothing to me in three seasons to make me believe he will make Tennessee a winner. Let him prove it by beating Duke and then I'll be more on board. I believed in him up until this season just like I did Dooley. People who gave up on Dooley were right in doing so. It's very possible that people giving up on Martin are right in doing so. I don't see the problem.

A savvy AD would have at least kept Bruce on the burner to see what happens tomorrow night against Iowa (and against UMass with a win). Keep him on the line for 4 days. I am sure Auburn was in a hurry to get it done, but they would have waited for Bruce. Maybe Bruce told Hart to **** off. If so he had no control. I have heard differently, but but who really knows the truth.

Don't disagree with the tactic. All things being equal Hart could've done that. Unfortunately all things weren't equal and, even if Hart had wanted to re-hire Pearl it seems it was never gonna get approval from those higher up the foodchain. I just can't see blaming this one on Hart.

Martin should have been fired mid season. An interim hired pending Pearl's return

Really? And if Pearl had told them to shove it, we're stuck with an unwanted interim coach and the situation of firing a coach midseason, one where any logical and good coach (ones you think we can easily get) won't even bat an eye to. Sounds like a great plan. Why in the world are you not the AD?

Here is an idea for all the people who cannot support the VOLS because we can't get Brucy back. Start you own forum and call it VolBarnnation, go there and talk about how UT will suck and Auburn will rock in a couple years and leave those of us who really only care about Tennessee athletics being successfull with who we have enjoy the tournament and upcoming football season. PLEASE!!!!

The jury is still out on Martin's long-term prospects at UT but all the Dooley comparisons are absolutely ridiculous. Dooley flat out quit trying after the 2011 loss at UK. He WANTED to get fired after that game so he could collect his buyout and GTFO. His players so badly wanted him out by the end of 2012 that they essentially threw the Vanderbilt game to force Hart's hand. Martin's players could've done likewise this year if they wanted to. Instead they busted their tails down the stretch to get back in the tournament picture and had the #1 team in the country in a dogfight before Pat Adams decided to make himself the center of attention. For better or worse, these players clearly want Cuonzo Martin to be their coach.

This will go down as perhaps the biggest non-hire in athletic director history. Dave's not that old, but maybe he's already lost his marbles.

The hilarious part is some of you boobs actually think this "rehire" had a snowball's chance of ever making it off of a free message board.

This Athletic Department has to be the dumbest and most retarded group of people ever in the last 7 years. I love Fulmer, but you don't fire him after that hefty extension in 2007. You sure as hell don't hire Golden Boy, and follow that up with a Lawyer? Then you say for 5 months you're with Bruce and then the day before a tourney game, you say you don't know anymore. Then you make an emergency hire with a super nice, clean guy, but he doesn't have a clue about coaching offense, or dead ball plays. On top of it, we have a family who carries a lot of weight in the Athletic Department in the Haslams, which Bill is governor that has oversight controls on the TN Board of Regents and could easily have Cheek replaced.

I don't get how Hart, Cheek, Hamilton, and others have become the biggest pansies and would rather look good then actually make the university and sports programs better.
