Can Dooley close on recruits?

If W's and L's matter so much then Nick Saban would've never got out of Michigan St. He coached a hair above .500 ball club every season I think while he was there.....and wasn't it during his big winning season he took the L.S.U. job and bailed before MSU's bowl game? He turned out to be a smart hire huh......sounds like a coach we've got to me.

Most of you on here would have been calling him a bust when LSU hired him if you didn't know him now by those stats....I'm old enough to remember the SEC fans lauging at LSU for the hire....I was one of them too until that SEC title game in 2001 which cost us a Nat'l Championship.

Are you actually trying to compare Nick Saban to Dooley based on coaching credentials. Evidently, you forgot that Sabam was the DC for the Browns for 4 years before he was named HC at MSU. Second, he coached at a highly competitive school before going to LSU. MSU>LaTech. Third, evryone in the SEC that had half a brain was crying when DiNardo was fired after the Houston debacle and were very warying of Saban. Now everyone has to start somewhere, but Saban was MUCH
more qualified to become the HC at LSU than Dooley was at UT.

DMV hit a homerun with his recruiting post, spot on...

The comparision of Dooley to Saban, not so much.

Why....because he is not on the news saying CUM is committing recruiting violations that he isn't committing?

He was on a staff that had the #2 ranked class in 2003 by Scout.com behind U.S.C. and repeated the same rank in 2004 behind them again....without all the backyard SoCal talent to choose from just like Texas.

He has been on a staff that knows how to get the job done just like the previous jerk that gave you and the rest of the Vol Nation the finger and ran away to an easy job out here in L.A.

Dooley has recruited in the S.E.C. and knows how to sell to Southern parents.....just ask Marlon Brown's Grandma what she thinks of Kiffin and Orgeron. Kiffin was building a fence around the state remember and Brown's Granny kicked it down without breaking her hip!

We have one of the best O-line and one of the best D-line coaches in the game....with a reputation for getting college kids to the N.F.L. and Pro coaching experience. A WR's coach that has coached some of the best in the Pro's. Lance Thompson....need I say more. An Offensive Coordinator that coached the current Super Bowl M.V.P. to stardom as a 3* recruit at Purdue and a head coach that has been to the show as well. We have the N.F.L. sales pitch to use just like the clowns that were here before.

Smooth is fast.....patience is a virtue....quit hating on this staff....let them do their thing man.

A very good post in the DD vs Kiffin debate.

Nope....just saying people solely going on the numbers of W's and L's are stupid....that is all. Kiffin had a worse record and he came in, ran his mouth, and we loved him.

Dooley will sign a top 15 class or better the first year. You close the deal when it's time to close the deal not when you are still trying to say hello....nothing like a pushy salesman to turn people off...

I totally disagree. It is a style versus substance debate. Flash only gets you so far for so long....

Exactly.+1

Plus I don't we'll have to worry about any violations and etc with CDD. Kiffin always had me nervous.

Yeah LK was a great recruiter alright. Two recruits charged with armed robbery and one still hasn't learned his lesson. An overrated diva 5-star running back no longer with us. I'll take character guys over idiots any day.
:eek:lol:Your AVATAR IS EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!LOL Man I am at work and people don't know what i am laughing at

The fact that you all have convinced yourselves Dooley is on par with Kiffin recruiting wise is laughable. But I guess it’s to be expected when Alan Posey was considered a “huge get by Dooley” by some on this board.

Alan Posey is on the same level, if not higher, than Zach Fulton. His offer list is certainly more impressive. Fulton was a great pickup by Kiffin according to everyone.

He is without a doubt more impressive than some of Kiffin's earlier commits. Do the names Ralph Williams, Jose Jose, and Pat Harris ring a bell?

I guess when you're as pessimistic as your kind, at least you're never disappointed. I try to inject a little positivity and realism into my outlook on life.

I, personally, never said Dooley was on par with FLK either though. I just said it's too early to say he's not and that's 100% fact.

You must judge these things based on the results and last I checked, those aren't in until February.

he did do a great job with Hunter, but lets face it, he's a downgrade in recruiting from LK. It simply is what it is.
I depends on how you grade them out as a recruiter. Face to face Dooley is going to sell to most parents better than LK. Now if we're talking bending the rules, pushing the envelop, and duplicity then Kiffin is definitely the man and if not Ed O takes the title.

I will say I don't think the present staff will recruit as well as far as ranking right away even if we weren't considering need into the equation. I do however think Dooley's classes will be better in the long run (grades, off field trouble, etc).
