Any chance at this. You currently have 7 teams still alive for a spot in some fashion or another. Really going to be splitting hairs if most of these teams finish 10-2. 4 seems guaranteed but can a 5th sneak in? Sound off

There’s no way IMO because of ACC and if B12 having potentially undefeated champs and runner up just 1 loss to that champ
SEC - 4
B103
ACC - 2
B12 -2
GROUP of Five - 1

How are you getting 3 BiG 12 teams in? They are getting only 1 in…

Big Ten will also get 3 in at least…not two

Not if they keep beating each other up. Some of the SEC’s main potential playoff teams have been beaten by Arky, Vandy, and Kentucky…

If Miami were to beat Clemson at the end of the year, I’m not sure the Tigers would get in as a second ACC team at 10-2.

Splitting hairs again with 5th best Sec team and 4th best Big Ten school…could be very interesting…highly political maybe

Big 12 have BYU and ISU who don’t play each other in regular season. They could potentially be both undefeated into their champ game or 1 team with 1 loss. If the 1 loss wins champ game then would they really leave out runner up? (ISU might lose already )

The Vols will beat OSU, Oregon, or Penn. I don’t give a damn about playing SEC rematches in the playoffs…..I want us to show those other conferences that they don’t belong.

Right now, here are the contenders

ACC - Clemson, Miami, Pittsburgh
Big12 - BYU, Iowa State, Kansas State
Big10 - Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Indiana, Illinois
SEC - Alabama (still alive but need to win out), Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M
G5 - Boise State, Army/Navy
Other - Notre Dame

There are probably some 1-loss teams that I am missing but this seems to be the pact currently. Big12 has a bunch of mediocre programs so I think they will eat each other. I don't think BYU or Iowa State will hold up.

In the ACC, Clemson looks solid but they cannot afford an ACC title loss. They can loss and win it (get autobid). Miami continues to win and Pitt is unbeaten so curious to see how that turns out.

Notre Dame needs to win out. I am not confident. 1 more loss eliminates them because that NIU loss is really bad (especially since NIU is losing a lot now)

So 4 for the SEC looks good. Biggest issue maybe Indiana or Illinois.

Still a lot of football to be played.

Possibly…I see losses coming for both…hopefully…we just can’t have two of them in…I won’t have it…lol

I don't think both of them can go undefeated. BYU has looked the best. I haven't seen Iowa State play anyone all year long which means they haven't really been in a meaningful game. They are losing to UCF right now.

Depends on what happens with the conferences and how heavily the committees weigh things in conferences with a dramatic number of new members like the Big 12.

The polls are more recently giving plenty of ups to undefeated schools like ISU and BYU…but the placement of BYU so far behind so many teams (plus where they’re holding KSU) seems to suggest that they wouldn’t be held as high were they a 1-loss team. (But again, the polls also aren’t part of what the committee looks at for its decisions either.)

If they don’t feel the resume is strong enough, then yes, they would.

Remember 2022 and South Carolina.

Sure, outside of Georgia, our competition in November isn't the greatest and there really isn't a team on the level of that South Carolina team left but you don't want to get your cart before your horses.

That team finished 10-2 and would have made the 12 team playoffs..we have a tad more room for error now!

I think an ACC and/or Big12 team is going to be left out and it is going to be controversial. Those leagues are eventually going to be forced into play games at B1G/SEC stadiums with no return games. That is what the B1G and SEC will jockey for. Playing those teams brings more ratings than UL Monroes of the world but B1G/SEC teams don't want to give up a home game to do home-and-home.
